The Indian Institute of Welding


The Indian Institute of Welding (IIW-India) is a non-profit professional body, established in 1966 to promote the
interest of welding industry and practicing welding professionals in India. As the sole Indian member society of the
International Institute of Welding, IIW-India represents Indian interests in development of global welding
education/certification programs and formulation of international welding standards apart from participating in
exchange of technical and scientific information. IIW-India has its headquarters at Kolkata and has thirteen
branches located at key industrial cities. The Mumbai Branch of IIW-India, with its large individual and corporate
membership, is one of the Institute's most active branches. It has been promoting the interests of professionals and
industries associated with welding in Western India. The branch conducts technical lectures, refresher courses,
training programmes, workshops and seminars on a regular basis for its members, engineers and welding

Authors interested in presenting papers are requested to email the full manuscript of their papers on or before 15th
January, 2015. Authors shall be requested to send the full text of their papers in MS-Word format, page size A4,
font- Times New Roman size 12pt, page numbers right-aligned in the footer, pictures & figures duly scanned and
centre- aligned, text in single column only, with total word count not exceeding 3000; to Mr. S Krishnan

Annual Branch Seminar - Mumbai Branch


The objective of this seminar is to provide a forum for professionals from industries, academia and research
institutions to share and enhance the knowledge base in welding science and technology. This annual event of the
Branch also provides excellent networking opportunities for welding professionals. The one-day Seminar is
scheduled on Saturday, 14 February, 2015.

Welding is currently applied in manufacturing of a wide variety of products using advanced materials, processes,
design and automation. The need for producing extremely high-quality welds, increasing productivity and
utilizing a wide range of materials are the challenges before the welding industry. This seminar aims to deliberate
on these challenges in the field of "Advances in Joining Technology"
