1) Jupiter in 7th house generally, even lord of 7th does bestow very
unsatisfactory results. He causes great disappointments and
dissatisfaction in married life. He causes undue delay in marriage.
2) Marital disorder may occur seeking separation when Venus is found in
Kritika, Moola, Aridra or Jyeshtha Nakshatras. Out of these Kritika is most
inauspicious and gives very bad results.
3) When 7th lord is in 6th and afflicted by separative influence, there may be
separation. Similarly, when 7th lord or significator joins the 6th lord and is
afflicted by aspect or conjunction of malefics, similar results are likely.
When strong Jupiter makes a link with the above combinations in any form,
the separation may be saved but the husband and wife experience
quarrels.
4) 6th house denotes legal disputes and connection of malefic 6 th lord with 7th
house, 7th lord or significator may result in legal action and separation.
Also when 7th lord or significator joins 6th house being afflicted by malefics.
5) When 7th house, 7th lord and significator all are afflicted, conjoined,
associated or aspected by malefics, unhappiness in married life is
indicated. Significators are Venus for males and Mars in case of females.
6) When Rahu and Saturn join Lagna, one is likely to face strife and
separation in married life. When 7th lord is retrograde and is also afflicted,
similar results are experienced.
7) When in a female chart, Aries or Scorpio Lagna rise and 7 th lord is weak,
combust, retrograde and is afflicted, she will be abandoned by her
husband.
8) If combination of Sun and Mars in either horoscope is in 2 nd, 7th or 8th
house, it holds out excellent prospects for discarding, separation and
disunion. It does not necessarily involve loss of partner.
9) To analyse marriage, affliction to Venus by situation, association or aspects
of malefics have an adverse effect on morals. Venus represents the other
partner of marriage.
10)
When lords of 2nd and 7th houses are in constellation of evil lords,
particularly in the constellation of 6th lord and are afflicted, there will be
separation, divorce, litigation etc between the couple.
Kalathra Dosha
The word Kalathra means spouse, among the planets, Venus is the Kalathra
karaka (planet indicating wife). Among the 12 houses, 7 th house is the Kalathra
sthana (house indicating spouse). Any malefic planet in 7 th house creates
Kalathra dosha. Also, Kalathra dosha is created if the 7 th lord and Venus is
afflicted in the birth chart. Kalathra dosha delays the marriage and it is very hard
to find a suitable partner for marriage. Even after the marriage, they lack good
understanding and live a separated life. They also lack conjugal bliss which
ultimately ends up in divorce. In some cases, the spouse suffers due to health
problems and even death may occur in severe cases.
Similarly, 8th house is called as Mangalya sthana (house indicating marital tie).
Malefic planets in 8th house create Mangalya dosha. Planet Jupiter is called as
Mangalya karaka (planet indicating marital tie). If the 8 th lord, Jupiter and 8th
house is afflicted, then the person faces trouble in marital life due to Mangalya
dosha. Mangalya dosha will spoil the marriage life either by separating husband
and wife by sending someone away from home or else by divorce of by giving
death to the husband.
Common effects of Kalathra dosha:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
Delay in marriage
Unhappy marital life
Misunderstandings
Lack of conjugal bliss
Separation or divorce
Ill health to spouse
Premature death of spouse
Mars Dosha: Mars in 7th or 8th house: Mars creates Kalathra dosha in 7th house
and Mangalya dosha in 8th house. This is also called as kuja dosha or mangal
dosha. If Kalathra dosha is created by the fiery mars, better get your horoscope
matched with mangalik person for a happy marital life. Mangalik people are
aggressive and angry prone. If mars is aspected by Jupiter, malefic effects of
mars will e reduced much they can make a happy marital life.
Sani dosha: Saturn in 7th or 8th house: Saturn creates Kalathra dosha in 7th
house and Mangalya dosha in 8th house. This is also called as Sani dosha. Saturn
dosha delays the marriage and marriage takes place only after the age of 30 in
many cases unless otherwise a benefic planet aspects Saturn. Otherwise, the
native marries a person who is very much older than the native. And this age
difference would be more than eight. Or otherwise they may get married to a
person who is darker in complexion or the one who is inferior by social status or
wealth than the native. True affection from heart will not be there between the
couples.
Naga Dosha: Rahu/Ketu in 7th or 8th house: Rahu or ketu creates Kalathra dosha
in 7th house and Mangalya dosha in 8th house. This is also called as naga dosha.
Naga dosha creates troubles in choosing a right partner for marriage. They
mostly disappointed in the marriage life even if married early. Health of the
spouse may not be good. No good relationship with in-laws. They ll always be in
a fear imagining that some unexpected event would occur. The spouse might
speak lies or use deceiving words.
Exceptions on Kalathra dosha and Mangalya dosha:
1. If Jupiter aspects the 7th house or 8th house, then the dosha get cancelled.
2. If the lord of the 7th or 8th house is strongly placed, then the dosha doesnt
harm much
3. If the planet creating dosha is placed on its own house or exaltation house,
then there is no dosha

Boredom, unresolved frustration with negative habits of the spouse, and
stubborn resistance to change while burdened with responsibilities for

Stays in the marriage for the children
Lord Shani is a force of orderliness therefore Shani alone will not enforce a
divorce. But if other factors pressure a split, one of the long-term
grievances of the abandoning partner may well be endurance of decades
of motion without progress due to the stubborn resistance (Shani) of the
spouse preventing any creative forward movement on matters of lingering
disagreement.
Simha in lagna
Simha or Chandra lagna faces a special set of marriage challenges.
Kalatrakaraka shukra + 7th lord Shani are both enemies of lagna lord
Surya.
The Simha native requires an inordinate amount of attention, however the
spouse tends to be focused on the external network of social relationships
to the exclusion (or so it feels) of the intimate needs of the native
One may feel sidelined, or simply deprived of that focused, exclusive
praising attention which Simha demands. Slightly more acute for the
Simha-Chandra than for Simha lagna.
If Simha Chandra is in rasi lagna, the perceived shortfall of that personal
attention, regardless of abundant attention received from the public
audience, lacking from the spouse may be too much for the native to bear
in marriage and divorce may result.
Dhanusha Lagna Dhanusha in lagna or Chandra lagna faces a special set of
marriage challenges.
Kalatrakaraka shukra who is both 6th and 11th lord is the enemy of lagna
lord Jupiter. Lord of 7th house, mercury is the enemy of lagna lord Jupiter

Material dissolution of legal marriage contract, splitting of assets,
reversal of vows:
Occurs in period of 6th lord. (6th from Chandra dissolves the emotional
balance, but physical matters are best judged from rasi lagna)
Depending on the nature of the break-up and rasi lagna of the nativity, a
formal dissolution of marriage might occur quite some time after the
psychic death which tells the native or the spouse that the marriage is
finished. (see the table of lagnas for divorce).
Overall condition of 7th bhava and 7th navamsa. A strong 7th bhava will
withstand the siege of all divorce factors, including periods of 12 th lord.
If the spouse in question is 2nd or subsequent marriage, check the lagnas
for the marriages.
If the lord is benefic, there may be genuine benefits coming from the
alienation. Benefic 12th lord may not be a harbinger of later divorce unless
there is a connection between ketu and 12 th lord.
If 12th lord is malefic and the client is reporting a rough time, check the
overall strength of 12th lord in D1 and D9. Check the next occurrence of
Vimshottari bhukthi of 2nd or 8th lord, which are the karakas for divorce.
between the withdrawing of 12th lord and the 8th lord dead to me
experience which dissolves the union. If 8 th and 12th lords are both strong,
Thula can experience a divorce during this bhukti sequence. Also applies
to Thula Chandra.
Vrischika lagna has the reverse sequence of Vrishabha, with identical
results: 6th lord spousal animosity from kuja bhukti is followed by Rahu
bhukti, which can enflame the passions and generate some acting-out.
After Rahus wild time comes period of 2nd lord Guru. Check the strength of
the graham involved.
Makara lagna, period of 12th lord Guru for spouses illness or animosity, is
followed by period of 2nd lord Shani for divorce. Shani is a natural malefic
so this setup is worth watching during the relevant Vimshottari periods.
For Kumbha lagna, period of 12th lord Shani period for spouses illness or
animosity is followed by the period of 8th lord Budha for divorce. Budha is
not a natural malefic like Shani, but Budha can still cause trouble.
Mithuna, Karka, Kanya, Dhanusha and Meena lagnas have no back
to back conflict-divorce periods.
Type of Divorce
The total experience of divorce (social, emotional, physical, psychological,
financial, familial, etc) is defined primarily by the conditions of 8 th bhava
and its lord.
If 8th lord is in an auspicious graha, divorce may be amicable or gainful.
If 8th lord is a malefic, except difficulties
If 8th lord is a neutral planet (Budha in favourable rashis for Vrishabha,
Kumbha lagnas) divorce may give a sense of neither loss nor gain, but
simply moving on through the cycle of life
Planet(s) in occupation of 8th bhava suggest involvement with secret
matters. The scope of bhava-8 includes, but is not limited to, secret
extramarital sexual relationships.
Placement of Lord of 8th House Some Divorce Effects
(must be combined with the natal conditions of 8 th bhava, 8th from
Chandra, drishti etc.)
1st house
The divorce experience (if indicated) shapes the natives personality. This
native is prone toward sudden, forced changes in life divorce or death of
spouse being only one example. If 8th lord is benefic, native is associated
with privileged, secret, transformative processes. If 8 th lord is malefic,
frequent accidents and shocks can be expected. Financial proceeds from
settlement of joint accounts, if any, will fund development of the physical
vehicle including intentional changes made to the body and brain. This
native likes to change their appearance and social identity frequently.
Karaka for multiple cycles.
2nd house
Proceeds of divorce or death of the first spouse are re-invested in the
second marriage, or used to develop the traditions of the natives birth
family. This is more typically a setup for widowhood from the 1 st marriage
and less frequently divorce.
3rd house
Divorce lord has entered the mentality house. Monies from the joint assets
of marriage or divorce settlements may be invested in business
communications, into the siblings, or into mental pursuits. Frequently the

The stronger the karaka by rashi, drishti etc. the stronger its divorce-remarriage
effects:
Surya in house-7 (self-righteousness in marriage)
Surya in house-5 (native craves romantic attention)
Rahu or ketu in house-7

Rahu-ketu yuti navamsa L-1 or L-7 indicates craving for new partners,
frequent remarriages

Mutual drishti of enemy Graha in navamsa 1/7 axis
Guru and Rahu drishti upon L-7 or shukra
Shani in yuvati bhava
Is not a divorce karaka but rather signifies determined hard-working
plodding through an arduous or disappointing marriage.
Gives determination to tolerate a emotionally or financially withholding, or
low-caste or underperforming spouse.
Depending on other permission graha, the native may not need to
accept their marital oppression indefinitely.
This placement of Shani/7 typically shows sustained karma of a
troublesome spouse for a long period, even if divorce does eventually
occur when bhukti of divorce graha (see table above) releases the karma.
Best results with an older or conservative spouse. For social reasons,
Shani in bhava-7 is generally an easier placement for a female.
Divorce-related transits:
Irreconcilable differences leading to physical separation frequently occur
at milestones of 9-10, 14-15, 17-18, 27-28 -or- 29-30, 36-37, or 45-48
years.
Legal divorce may occur some years after the physical separation,
depending on the strength of the arudha lagna.
There are very few divorces after 45 years of marriage. (yes, there are
some, due to Vimshottari dasha considerations not affected by these
transit cycles.)
o Rahu cycles are 9, 18, 27, 36, 54, and 63 years.
o Shani cycles are durations of 14-15, 29-30 or 44-45 years.
o Any of these milestone returns that might occur simultaneously with
bhukti of 2nd lord or 8th lord, can contribute considerable momentum to
a divorce.
Psycho-emotional connections:
If these connections are not present, structural weakness in the marriage
enhances likelihood of divorce:
o Her rasi moon axis should matches either his navamsa nodal axis, or
his navamsa nodal axis
o Her rasi moon axis should matches either her navamsa nodal axis, or
her navamsa nodal axis
o For non-traditional committed unions, partner-1 must match partner-2
as above
o If ones rasi moon is not matched to the navamsa lagna or nodes (or
possibly, navamsa moon) of the partner, one remains emotionally
invisible to the partner.
Where we are lucky enough to have verified birth data for both spouses in a
divorce case, it is almost always the case that one spouse will be invisible
to the other and that this inability to recognize the other persons psychoemotional reality is the underlying cause of irreconcilable differences in
divorce.
Physical separation vs. legal divorce: Timing of divorce most often
means the bhukti and gochara nodes in effect when couple physically
separates with a clear intention to divorce. Moving out and starting over
often happens years before a final legal settlement is reached. Divorce
related events such as when the legal divorce petition is filed or when it is
final do often follow quickly, and are completed within the initial physical
separation bhukti These actions are less personal and more about social
position, property, custody, etc. If the twelfth house (of illusions) has a very
strong Arudha lagna which is to say there is a strong power of
Power of public illusion: Public Illusion functioning in the persons life
and the 7th house <IIIbpa/Bhava/7yuvati_bhava.htm> is also weak the
public admission of divorce (legal decree) may occur many years after
moving-out. In real life the gap between an internally (spiritually/ emotionally)
weak marriage and the external, public appearance of a strong bond is often
couples who are public figures, pillars of their community, who hold political
or religious office, or otherwise have an instrumental need to maintain a
convincing public face of continuing marriage long after they have
separated. Should a persons rasi chart display this combination of weak 7 th
with strong Upapada, they are not marked as hypocrite or a compulsive liar.
Usually the forces of public expectation are much stronger than the
individuals own courage to be honest, and the consequences of public
announcement of divorce too painful to one or both parties. Watch for the
period of the lord of 2nd-from-upapada to see the public announcement.
Upapada and Dharapada: The power of Public Illusion:
Marriage is not only a private relationship, but it is also a public institution.
Regardless of private truth, public perceptions can determine the marriage
public status.
o A12 is the arudha lagna of 12th house which is named Upapada
o A7 is the arudha lagna of 7th house which is also named Dharapada
o If the Upapada (A12) is strong,
But the 7th house becomes weak
And 8th house effects are felt,
o This will mean physical separation between the couple and
marriage as such may continue to survive in this world of illusion.
o Thus people or outsiders will continue to consider the couple as
husband and wife when they are physically separated.
The second house from the Upapada gives the exact timing of the actual
breakage of marriage as everyone gets to k now that this separation, divorce
or death of spouse has occurred.
The eighth house from Venus will bring those people who will activate this
breakage of marriage either physically or actually
If the lord of the second is associated with Dharapada then the person had
physical relationship before the marriage and this by itself can be a cause of
break of the first marriage.
Physical separation
2nd from any house shows the saturation (death) of matters contained in that
house. 7th house rules marriage, the first marriage in particular. Timing of
saturation point when this lifes karma in the matter of marriage relations is
completed is set by the scheduled period of the lord of 2 nd from current
marriage.
o
From the first spouse whether by death or divorce is seen in the bhukti of
lord of 2nd from 7th, randhra bhava. [After age 32, also consider 8 th from
moon]
o
From the second spouse whether by death or divorce is seen in the bhukti
of lord of 2nd from 2nd, Sahaja bhava. [After age 32, also consider 3 rd from
moon]
o
From the third spouse whether by death or divorce is seen in the bhukti of
lord of 2nd from 9th, Karma bhava. [after age 32, also consider 10 th from
moon]
Of course the regular dasha rotations of separation causing house lords do not
guarantee separation of marriage partners. Far from it:
o Marriage as the core social and emotional bond of adult life, will remain
secure by default unless significant destabilizing yogas affect Venus,
Jupiter or the marriage house(s).
o Marriage is a powerful yoga. For most people, ego-attachment to the
marriage partners body/personality is second only to ego-attachment to
ones own body/personality
o Only if other factors are leading to instability in marriage, do we go looking
for the culprit end from lord to indicate timing of separation.

Q. 111 : From which house or planet do you predict a second marriage?
Ans:

o
o
o
Shukra = karaka for marriage and all other contractual agreements also.
Shukra= karaka for harmony, partnership, balance, mutual support,
diplomacy.
If there is damage to Shukra (e.g., Shukra + Ketu) then the marriage
expectations are weakened and the likelihood of second marriage
increases .Naturally the Vimshottari Dasha timing must trigger a divorce,
but without the pre-existing weakness no trigger will work.
Shukra and bhava-7 specifically indicate marriage for men who prefer to
marry women.
For women, Shukra is not the direct profile of the husband but rather the
disposition of marriage contract and her expectations of harmony in the
union.
Guru indicates the first husband, Shani is the 2nd husband, and graha
associated with Shani indicate third and subsequent husbands. In my
records, there is a case of a woman known to me who was married and
divorced five times before the age of 42. In her nativity, all graha except
Chandra-Rahu occupy a rashi of Shani. Marriage-1 comes from Guru.
Marriages 2-3-4-5 come from Shani and three graha with Shani. After she
exhausted the karma of each of Guru in a rashi of Shani, then Shani, then
three graha with Shani, she stopped getting married and entered a
monastery. She is now a great healer and saint.
Rahu-Ketu
In my practice (at least so far) I find that 2nd lord is the best significator of
the 2nd marriage partner male or female, and that most public aspects of
the 2nd spouses life can be read from 2nd bhava as lagna. (eg: career os 2nd
spouse = 10th from 2nd, = natives bhava 11).
9th Lord is the significator of 3rd spouse; L-4 = 4th spouse; L-11 = 5th
spouse; etc.
Marriage and all remarriages will follow the same timing rules:
Bhukti of one of these classic marriage-makers:
o Shani, Shukra, Rahu or Ketu
o Navamsa of 7th lord or 1st lord
o Rahu/ketu transit through one of these axes
