InSSIDer is modified to show the signal strength of the AP.
Here are the steps we followed to do the survey
1. Run the insider.exe file.
This will open the following GUI, this is Landing page.

2. Select 2.4GHz / 5 GHz Channels Tab: It shows the Channel

Graph.

3. Select the Survey Tab:

Click on the browse button to select the floor plan from

the hard disk.

The selected floorplan will be displayed in the RHS of the

panel.

If the AP Textbox left blank and pressed on Ok Button, a

validation message shows up asking to enter the AP.

Type the AP name and click on OK button. Typed AP name with

the AP image will appear on the floor plan. Drag and place it in
the apt place on the floor plan as shown below. We have setup
4 APs Vivint, AFN, Vivint-Test and Vivint-heatmap.

Once you are done with placing all the APs in the apt location,
click on Done Button. This does the following 2 tasks:
a. Creates a folder under #inSSIDer#/Survey/FloorPlanName.
Example if inSSIDer is running under C:\inssider and you
have selected floorplan1.jpg as the floorplan,
C:\inssider\Survey\floorplan folder gets created
dynamically and the floor plan image is copied to this
folder.

b. Brings up another Panel with a drop-down that contains all

the APs that we configured in the above section and a
textfield to enter the IP Address of the STA.

If the user clicks on Connect Button without entering the IP

address the message Please Enter the IP Address will be
displayed.

After entering the IP Address click on Connect button, if the
server is not running then anerror message will be shown.

If connection is successful, Please Wait Gathering Information

from the Server and Information Gathered successfully
messages will be displayed.

Select the AP for which you want to do the survey, If the user
clicks on floor without selecting the AP from the combo box, the
message Please Select the AP will be displayed.

If connection is successful, and AP Seleted from the combo

boxPlease Wait Gathering Information from the Server and
Information Gathered successfully messages will be
displayed.

Once we are done with collecting as many as required data

points, we need to click on Heatmap button. This will bring up
the following screen. It has the list of APs for which the survey
was done. When an AP is checked, the data points collected for
that AP will start showing in the Heatmap. In our survey we
collected 5 data points for 1 AP Vivint
