The amount of water is then used in making the cement paste for the other cement acceptance quality tests. This test
is used to find out the percentage of amount of water at which the standard consistency is achieve . he principle of
doing this test is : standard consistency of cement is that consistency at which the Vicat plunger penetrates to a point
5-7mm from the bottom of Vicat mould.We will use that device to determine the consistency of the our cement
sample in order to know how much percent of water is required to make the right standard cement .

SAFETY MEASUREMENT
To avoid any injury we are require to wear the glove , safety and anti slip boots, ear plug and also mask. The

lab assistant order us to wear it is because :

Glove ;- is because there is coarse and fine aggregate it will make us bleeding and also the cement will make

side effect to our skin, it will cause us to have skin allergic. In case the glass is break it will not hurt us directly.
Safety and anti slip boots;- to avoid our shoe get contact with the cement or concrete we have to wear it and
also some of the shoe are very slippery so to avoid any injure and make dirty of our shoe we are require to wear

on it. And when the concrete or other stuff fell on our feet it will not so painfull as well
Ear plug :- to wear ear plug this is because there is some machine for example the mixer and the shaking
machine will produce very loud sound, to protect our ear we need to wear the ear plug.

Mask:- mask is very important as well because it will effected our health if we dint wear it, this is because if we
dint wear it we will inhale directly the dust which come from the cement or the aggregate. So to avoid that we
should have wear it

Weight 500 g of dry cement

Add 100g of water into the cement paste which also 20% of the cement.
Wear the rubber glove and mix the cement paste.
Place the cement paste into the cylinder mould untill the paste has fully filled up.
Sliced out the extra of the cement paste at the mould with thowel.
Place the mould on the vicat apparatus.
Release the balance and leave it for 2 min
Record the data
Repeat step 1 to 8 by using 20%, 40% , 60%, 80% and 100% of the dry cement water.

Our test result is not so far from the true value, although errors were made in the procedure by not following our
standard requirements.

CONCLUSION

40% of water is the required amount of water to have a consistence cement paste , the reason for that is we get a 7
mm (which is between 5 & 7 mm) in that percent of water-adding.
