KING ARTHUR AND THE SWORD IN THE STONE
Once upon a time, there was a king named Uther who married Lady Igraine. King Uther and Lady Igraine
had a son named Arthur. King Uther had to fight in a war so he gave his son to his wizard Merlin, to
protect the baby. Merlin sent Arthur with a family to live in the countryside. Arthur never knew who his
parents were. When king Uther died, no one knew he had a son.
A mysterious stone appeared next to St. Pauls cathedral in London. There was a message on it: Whoever
will pull the sword out, will be the rightful king of Britain. Many knights tried, but all failed to take the
sword out of the stone.
Years later, Arthur went to a tournament in London with his brother. Arthur forgot to take his brothers
sword so he went to look for one. Arthur found a sword in the stone and took it out easily. When people
saw the sword, everyone wanted to know who pulled the sword out. Later, Arthur was crowned the king
of Britain.
