ASMOS 4.7 Release notes
**
******************************************
Backup:
It's strongly recommended to make backups with the
Asmos Backuptool after every major change in your
system configuration.
The Asmos Backuptool you will find on the CD in the
directory "Utils/AsmosDbBackup".
Firmware download files:
All firmware download files available with this CD
you will find on the CD in the directory "FwPackage_X_Y"
and its subdirectories.
Known problems:
* To install Asmos it is necessary that Internet Explorer
version 5.0 or higher is installed on this computer.
Windows NT / Windows 2000 / Windows XP
* Install ASMOS with Administrator rights. Otherwise
in the start-menu no ASMOS-Icon is created by
the ASMOS-Setup.
ASMOS software
* PairGain via SDU
With ASMOS software only the PairGain-Devices
1560, 1564 PG H, 1564 PG H 3A2I can be managed
via SDU. All other PairGain-Devices can not be
managed via SDU.
* Firmware download
=> Do not initiate firmware downloads when your
asmos system is operating under high load (e.g.
discovering large numbers of devices).
* Download LineCards(E6) from older firmwareversions to actual version
In Firmwareversions >2.0 is the new 'extended
MultiDownload-Protocol' implemented. You can download
at once up to 128 LineCards of the same type.
Download to LineCards with firmwareversions <2.0 is
not so comfortable. It is recommended to start not
more than 16-32 LineCards per SMU at the same time.
The optimum number depends on the PC-Hardware and
the system configuration.
ASMOS will recognize automaticly the implemented
MultiDownload-Protocol and using the best mode.
DSL systems

* Switching Transmission mode

Running a system in the 1 + 1 pair protection
mode an interchange of the two lines cannot be
recognized. In such a case switching from 1 + 1
pair protection mode to 1 pair mode will be
performed, but no connection will be established.
* Upgrading your LineRunner equipment
The download subdirectory "/LineRunner" on the CD
contains the update files for different versions
of the HDSL equipment. If you have the hardware
version E4, you have to select the files out of
the E4 subdirectory.
If you have the hardware version E6, you have to
select the E6 subdirectory. In the E6 subdirectory
you'll find two other subdirectories called
upgrade_hdsl and upgrade_hdsl_lr. If the system you
want to download is called HDSL*LR in the ASMOS
view, you should choose the subdirectory
upgrade_hdsl_lr. Please choose the upgrade_hdsl
directory in all other cases.
If you are not sure if you have hardware E4 or E6,
please have a look in the ASMOS view: if your system
is called HDSL*LR, you have an E6 system. If your
system name has not the LR-ending and your firmware
version is 2.1 or newer, you have an E4 system. If
you are still not sure which hardware you have, you
should download the E4 version.
* For 1 + 1 pair protection mode:
In the ASMOS Status-Display on the NT the not active
line (this line is up but data transmission is handled
via the other line) is shown as "Inactive" instead of
"Hot standby". Margin and line attenuation for this
line are displayed correctly.
* The Alarm AIS E1 Out isn't switched off in the ASMOS
Alarm view when the mode changes from G703 to X21.
This misbehaviour occurs only sporadically.
The alarm can be switched of with a reset on the
concerning device (Reset via the ASMOS-menu Device ->
Reset).
