INTRODUCTION. This work package contains instructions for removal and installation of the
high pressure compressor (XN25) speed sensors. There are 2 identical high pressure compressor
speed sensors mounted on the left side of the gearbox.
NOTE
The S.I. units shown in this work package are direct mathematical conversions and may
be rounded off in most instances at the user's discretion. Examples of units that may be
rounded off are those utilized for temperatures, torque values, pressures, etc. Examples
where S.I. units may not be rounded off are those utilized for drop checks, rigging
adjustments, runouts, etc.

a. If not accomplished during removal of
sensor, cut, remove, and dispose of lockwire
securing the cover. Remove 4 bolts, cover (4)
and gasket (3) from access opening on gearbox.
Retain cover, gasket, and attaching bolts.
NOTE
There are 2 identical high pressure
compressor speed sensors mounted
on left side of gearbox. Observe
safety precautions of Volume I,
Chapter I.
a. Cut the lockwire and remove the 4
bolts securing the cover over access opening on
the accessory gearbox housing. Remove cover
(4) and gasket (3), identify and retain for reinstallation. Place bolts in plastic bag, tag and
identify for reinstallation. Dispose of lockwire.
b. Cut and remove lockwire from
electrical connector and the jam nut on speed
pickup sensor. Dispose of lockwire.
c. Disconnect the electrical lead end
connector by unscrewing the connector
retaining nut and pulling straight out on
connector. Do not twist connector or pull out at
an angle. Place the flexible lead end out of way.
Do not twist, knot or kink the lead. Plug and
cover the connector and sensor terminals with
suitable plastic plugs and caps.
d. Loosen the jamnut on the sensor.
Remove the sensor from the gearbox port.
Remove jamnut from sensor body, identify and
retain for reinstallation. Identify the sensor.
5. INSTALLATION OF HPC (XN25) SPEED
SENSORS.
See figure l.
NOTE
Installation is the same for both
sensors.
