Overview
This Tech Tip describes the effect of the Delayed Code Download feature on the code download
behavior of ASTB and DCX / Host Code Suite set-tops using supported firmware versions.

Important:
When setting up the Core Code Suite or Legacy Host Code Suite for these
platforms, it is strongly recommended to NOT set the Core Timeout field to '1'.
This may cause the Code Download on these platforms to fail. Consult release
notes for future versions of Core Set-top Code versions 3.x and 4.x for changes
to this recommendation.
Note: For the Core Set-top platforms supporting 3.x and 4.x code releases only, the Core
Timeout field will direct the platform to use code suite download and allow a fallback to legacy
download methods after the timeout completes.
In addition to its previous use, the Core Timeout field is now also used to configure Delayed
Code Download on ASTB and DCX / Host set-tops (i.e. DCH3200, DCX700, DCT6416, etc.)
beginning with firmware versions Irvine 2.6, Hanover 4.6, and Glenside 8.6. The new behaviors
used by the ASTB and DCX/Host set-tops with these supported firmware versions are described
in the following sections.

The ISV guide application is registered for Delayed Code Download feature:
The set-top will delay the code download for default timeout period of 23 hours. Any
point prior to the completion of this timeout period, the ISV guide application can decide
to stop delaying and allow the download to proceed. Once the timeout period is
complete, the firmware will override and perform the Code Download.
The ISV guide application is not registered for Delayed Code Download feature
The set-top will reject code download if a DVR recording is in progress and a timeout
period will be set for 23 hours. With each subsequent code download message received,
the set-top will reject the message if a recording is still in progress and the timeout
period has not expired. The code download will occur after the expiration of the timeout
period or if recording is not in-progress and another code download message is received.
