OBJECTIVE
By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
classify five books to its genres.
ACTIVITIES
Set induction: Teacher greets the pupils and welcome them to their new class and starts introducing each
other. Pupils to form groups for class activities.
Presentation: Teacher states the objectives and introduces the lesson. Pupils talk about their holidays and
activities spent. Teacher asks about how many story books the pupils read during the holidays. Pupils to look at
pictures of books on page 1.
Practise: Pupils get into groups and discuss the genres of the books with teachers explanation and guidance.
Pupils use a tree map to classify genres of the books.
Production: Pupils to match the books to their genre based on each book cover. Pupils to choose a book the
like to read and give reasons for the choice.
Closure: Teacher chooses one from each group to present their answers.

Set induction: Teacher states the objectives and introduces the lesson. Teacher recites a riddle and the pupils
answer. : Who likes to wear a hood, a red hood? What will Little Red Riding Hood say when he saw the wolf?
Presentation: Teacher gives more examples of folklore. Pupils name books they read.
Practise: Pupils get in groups and practise the dialogue on page 2. Pupils use tree map to classify genres of
books.
Production: Pupils to get in pairs and choose a book and give reasons for the choice.
Closure: Teacher chooses 3 pupils to present their answers.
