The Transition from Obama to Trump
The election that has taken place in 2016 has had the people of America on their toes as
they are trying to figure out how to transition from one president to another. Usually this would
be no big deal with any other election, but because the president-elect is Donald Trump, the
United States is breaking out in an uproar. This is because Trump is unpredictable with his
actions and words in ways that an immature child would be, which is completely different from
current president Barack Obama, who is ever so mature when it comes to politics and public
speaking. Also, the way Trump talks about women and other races of humans makes a lot of
people wonder how he even got into the election race at all let alone be voted as the president of
the United States of America. And to go along with all this, his radical ideas and plans to deal
with terrorism are absurd according to many sources. Millions of people in the United States are
struggling with the transition of the humble and experienced Barack Obama to the immature and
inexperienced Donald Trump.
Donald Trump is a business mogle that has absolutely no experience with politics, but
decided to run for president to make America great again. But what was the problem with
America before? Many feel that the U.S. was on the rise during the eight year tenure of
presidency by Barack Obama. The difference is quite obvious between the two men, other than
the experience that Obama has over Trump, Trump is a profuse liar to the media and to the
people of the United States. For instance, hes said multiple things about deporting all illegal

Herrington 2
aliens and has said a lot of racist things about Mexican-Americans and African-Americans but
said in his victory speech that it is time for us to come together as one united people. (Cohen,
2016). The quote is very contradictory as he said in his earlier campaigns that he wants to deport
Mexican-Americans and jail Muslims, and what he doesnt seem to see is that all these races and
religions are what make America, America. This is one of the main reasons that people are in an
uproar over Trump being president because this is the first time that a person who is a
compulsive liar has been elected to be the president of the United States. So the transition from
Obama to Trump has shown to be very difficult for many Americans.
One of the most important reasons as to why people are struggling to transition to Trump
is because of the immense lack of experience in the political world. Add along the obvious
immaturity that he has presented in his debates and campaigns and you have an unpredictable
time bomb that could go off at any moment and that is definitely not what America needs at this
time. If Trump does any of the stuff that he plans on doing, then the people of america may be
doomed according to some sources. Some of the things that he plans on doing that are very
controversial among many Americans would be to ban muslims from entering the U.S. and get
rid of Obamacare which many people depend on in america as it;s their only form of healthcare
that they can afford. He also proposed to build a wall along the border of Mexico and the United
States to help with the problem of illegal aliens coming to the U.S. and this angered many
people. Hopefully trump doesnt go through with all of his plans and decides to pick a better way
to handle these situations before they become a problem instead of a solution.
Although Trump has shown his immature side during his campaigning period of the
election race, he changed that after he won the race and became the president-elect. During his
victory speech he spoke highly of his opponent Hillary Clinton and congratulated her on a very,

Herrington 3
very hard-fought campaign (Trump 2016), even tho she came up short. When he said this, it
was almost contradictory as earlier in his campaign he bashed her with insults and accusations
about the confidential emails that she may have sent with her personal email account. He also
said that him and everyone else should owe her a major debt of gratitude for her service in the
country (Trump, 2016). Is he finally realizing that the job of presidency declares for a mature,
calm and collected human being to properly run the United States? Or is he just saying these
words so that he can get more of America to like him and be supportive of him as he takes
control of this great land that we call home. In his victory speech he asked the people of the
United States to come together to help him so that we can together and unify our great country.
(Trump, 2016), signifying that he really wants to help the United States but not just by himself,
but with the help of the American people by guiding him to the right decisions. Hopefully the
persona of the campaigning Trump doesnt come out during the presidency and the newer
persona of a more humble and confident Trump prevails throughout the four years of his tenure
as president.
In an article written by writer Matt Flegenheimer of the New York Times, Donald Trump
Is Elected President in Stunning Repudiation of the Establishment, he wrote about how Trump
got voted president. He explained that he won because he was talking to people who werent
being spoken to,, and this reason helped him because in past presidencies apparently these
people werent being targeted in past campaigns and elections. He also talked about how the
white voters who voted for the nations first black president were more reluctant to vote for a
woman to take over presidency in the United States. This is a huge reason as to how Trump won
the election race in 2016 as a huge percent of the population are of white or caucasian descent.
But with the increasing numbers of minorities in the United States, people are struggling with the

Herrington 4
transition from a president of the minority race back to a president of the majority race and the
minorities are getting enraged because of this and all of his racial remarks during his presidential
campaign.
The new president of the United States has made fun of disabled people, made many
racist comments about Mexican-Americans and has accused his opponent of many illegal things
during his campaign. These are just some of the things that he has done, but after he won the
election race, he seemed to change his persona and become more mature about his position as
president of the United States. He seemed to start to understand is role and his power that he
controls and even asked for the people to guide and help him through the presidency to ensure
unity as a country. But because of all the immature actions by Trump during his campaign to
become the president, many people are finding it hard to transition from the current president,
Barack Obama, to the new president-elect, Donald Trump.
