Agricultural Business
Awareness to farmers and
Indians
By Yamuna P & Akshatha A N

Abstract
Agriculture is considered as our Back bone of
India. The average farm in India covers a surface
area of 2.5 hectares. Indias agricultural sector is
also characterized by insufficient productivity,
due
to
several
factors
such
as
the
miniauthorisation of agricultural players. Limited
use of mechanized farming techniques, a lack of
adequate equipment and infrastructure and the
harmful consequences of the green revolution of
the 1970s. Agricultures share in Indias economy
is significant albeit in decline, although the
accounted for 22% of GDP next to 51% for
services and 27% for industries. Despite the fact
that agriculture accounts for as much as a quarter
of Indian economy and employs an estimated
60% of the labour force, it is considered highly
inefficient waterful and incapable of solving the
hunger and malnutrition. Insufficient investment
has a direct effect on Indias agricultural
productivity. Our Prime minister Dr Modi has
implemented Digital India in the field of
agriculture. This topic is choosen by us to educate
the farmers, to bring awareness to the farmers
and Indians to involve in farming, to bring
awareness to farmers how to use new
methodologies in agriculture.

increase in agricultural productivity and net output.

Concept
Governments Digital India project launched on
1/7/15 to empower citizen with e-access to
government
services.
The
magriculture
and
mGramBazar, out of the seven components covered
under mServices, directly impact agricultural
extension and marketing services. The project will
benefit small farmers. It seeks to
1} transform rural India into a digitally empowered
knowledge economy.
2} provide universal phone connectivity and access to
broadband in 250000 villages.
India process over 265 million tons of food grains
per year which is more than enough to feed all its
citizens for its long time. More than 25% is below
poverty line and where millions go hungry day after
day. More than 50% of population is dependent on
agriculture.

COVER ARTICLE
Only 28% of all farmers use any kind of
agriculture related information that is available rather
than what they need. While about 72% of farmers do
not have any source of information that can help them
adopt latest technology. India has the largest irrigated
land which yields about 20-40% of the worlds best
level. Farmers need motivation and encouragement to
adopt proven yield enhancing and environment
friendly technologies. The Digital India project pays
undivided attention to provide accurate information
from authentic or genuine sources to farmers on time
on various studies.

Objectives
1)To bring the awareness to the farmers how to
adopt the new methodologies in agriculture.
2)To educate the farmers in the field of agriculture.

Water resources are heavily exploited.

Old farming technology is used which is
making the agricultural productivity low.
Heavy
use
of
fertilizers,
water
mismanagement, low productivity leads to a
debt for next cycle.
Farmers grows more
dependent on the climate.

Inflation and deflation of price are making the

farmers poor as they dont get the profit on
their expectations.
Most of the farmers are dependent on the
seeds sold.

cultivate the crops. Nearly 80% of the 140
million farming families hold less than 2 acres
of land.
Irrigation is consuming more than 80% of the
total water use in the country has to improve
agricultural output and boost the overall
economy.

It provides the technology and facilities

including storage, preservation, packaging,
commodity prices, measures to minimize the
impact of drought and climate change.
Detailed procedure for availing bank credit,
insurance cover, government subsidies,rain
water harvesting, soil and water conservation
measures.
Institutions involved in agricultural development
State governments department of agriculture,

-3Government initiatives

Loans should be provided at lower interest.

Government has set up farmers portal, kisan call

centre and m-kisan portal to help farmers take
informed decisions for efficient farming.

Suggestions
Information should be given to each and
every farmer through a common medium
so that all can receive the information.

Land should be provided to the farmers so that

the farmers level can increase and our economy
will develop.
Good transportation, storage facilities should be
provided so that the crops will not get spoiled.
Small industries should be motivated

Feedback should be collected from each

person about their satisfaction on the
ideas implemented.
There should not be any unfair practices
and fradulant practices.
Management should be set in looking
after the better usage of water facilities.
Rather than providing the seeds which
depends upon the climate, others seeds
should be provided so that the farmers
can earn more profits.
Indians should involve in agriculture
rather than searching for white collar
jobs.
Farmers should be given education about
use
of
new
technology
and
methodologies to adopt in farming.
The unharmful fertilizers
provided at reasonable cost.

be

The farmer should be made educated to

use the chemical fertilizers through
some models.
Small industries should be motivated

Seed bank should provide a better seeds to the

farmers at reasonable rates.
Industries and buildings setting up in villages
should be reduced so that the land will be used
by the farmers.
Price of the crops should be fixed so that the
farmers will get profit and yield more crops.

Conclusion
The conclusion part of this paper says that the
death rate of the farmers should be reduced and
the government should provide some initiatives
to the farmers so that they get motivated
towards the farming. Has we know farmers are
the backbone of our India, we the Indians should
also try involve in solving the problems of the
farmers. Without the backbone, the body cannot
stand firmly. So, We are the one to take
initiative in making a medicine to clear the pain
of our backbone. The opinions and ideas of every
person should considered because no one knows
which ideas may lead to betterment of our
economy. When our farmers are alive, the entire
population can be strengthened. Everyone in
India should join their hands to save the farmers
which results in saving our backbone.
