About MUN and IFMR MUN

Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is an educational

simulation and/or academic competition in which students can learn about
diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations.

MUN delegates develop and enhance useful skills such as:

Researching.

Writing.

Public Speaking.

Problem Solving.

Networking.

Teamwork.

Conflict Resolution.

Cooperation.

Delegates are the participants who get a country and represent that country in a
specific UN council. For example, I represent USA in Security Council and the
agenda is Situation in Crimea.
Organizing Committee members are the ones who organize the whole event.
Like real UN, MUN also has a hierarchy in its organizing committee. The hierarchy is
as follows:

Chief Advisor- This person has been a Secretary General of a conference,

organized MUNs and also been a delegate in many MUNs.
Secretary General- He/She is the head of the conference.
Deputy Secretary General
Director for various departments
USG(Under Secretary General)- Finance, Logistics, Communications
Other members and volunteers

Executive Board(EB) members- They are the ones who judge the delegates as
they have a good experience in MUNs as a delegate.
IFMR MUN- 2016:

IFMR MUN 2016 was conducted on 27th and 28th February, 2016 for the very first
time in IFMR. We had a footfall of around 50 delegates and two councils were thereUN Women and UN Human Rights Council. It was a decent start. All the people who
came were really happy with the campus and food provided to them. Ganga sir
helped us in accommodation and food. Also, the support from management was
really good. We had a budget of 50,000.
I, Vibhu Kalra was the Secretary General of the conference in IFMR MUN 2016 with a
team of 9 people. I started IFMR MUN club this year. I selected 16 potential juniors
for IFMR MUN, 2017 and they are working hard for the next edition.
IFMR MUN 2017:
This time I have appointed Mr. Dhiren Balasaria as the Secretary General of the
conference. He is a renowned face in the MUN circuit of India. He runs an
organization Young Leaders Consortium. He has contacts across the globe. He can
help us in making this conference big. He has already started the work for us.
We have interviewed potential Executive Board members and we will be launching
Delegate applications next week.
