URINARY SYSTEM & EIGHT LAWS

TRUST IN GOD
"Yea, my reins (KIDNEYS) shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things." Pro.23.16"

When the body is under stress and is in the first stage of the fight or flight response, known as the
ALARM REACTION, the kidney’s activity is cut back because of decreased blood circulation to the
kidneys, since it is not essential for meeting sudden danger. The resultant decrease in urine production
stimulates the secretion of the mineralocorticoids, found in the adrenal cortex.

This brings about the conservation of sodium ions by the body, and leads to water retention, thus
increasing blood pressure placing added burden upon the heart.

There is a direct relationship between the heart and the kidneys, and if our heart is constantly trusting
in the goodness and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ then it wont unnecessarily stimulate the kidney in
sodium retention which in turn rebounds back to the heart. Is it any wonder why the Bible says, “Thus
my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.” Psa.73.21.

OPEN AIR
“The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.” Job.33.4.

“The studied habit of shunning the air and avoiding exercise, closes the pores,--the little mouths
through which the body breathes,--making it impossible to throw off impurities through that channel.
The burden of labor is thrown upon the liver, lungs, kidneys, etc., and these internal organs are
compelled to do the work of the skin.” HL.134.

The major work of the urinary system is done by the nephrons. The other parts of the system are
primarily passageways and storage areas. Nephrons carry out three important functions: 1) they
control blood concentration and volume by removing selected amounts of water and solutes; 2) they
help regulate blood pH; and 3) they also remove toxic wastes from the blood. Air tends to primarily
affect the last two functions. Pure fresh air tends to help the body balance the pH level of the body
thus in turn placing less strain upon the kidneys. Impure air produces impure blood and giving more
work to the kidneys creating a heavier burden for them.

EXERCISE

“Morning exercise, walking in the free, invigorating air of heaven, or cultivating flowers, small fruits,
and vegetables, is necessary to a healthful circulation of the blood. It is the surest safeguard against
colds, coughs, congestion of the brain, inflammation of the liver, the kidneys, and the lungs, and a
hundred other diseases.” HL.176.

“By active exercise in the open air every day the liver, kidneys, and lungs also will be strengthened to
perform their work “ HL.131.
WATER
“The bath is a soother of the nerves. It promotes general perspiration, quickens the circulation,
overcomes obstructions in the system, and acts beneficially on the kidneys and the urinary organs.”
HL.228.

It would be an impossible task for the kidneys to do their job without the simple aid of water. Wastes
material, and water passes through the glomeruli’s filter membrane into the tubules. The total blood
volume filters into the tubules every 45 minutes or so. About 1-1.2 L of blood passes through the
glomeruli each minute. About 650ml is plasma, and about 125mls of this goes into the tubule – each
minute. Just imagine how many times you would have to go to the toilet as well as how many glasses
of water you would have to drink if it were not for the amazing recycling ability of the kidneys.

Dehydration places incredible pressure on the kidneys. It is like trying to do all the lunch dishes in a
teacup. The kidneys become diseased and kidney stones form, and the blood is not cleansed as it
should be, the urine stagnates in the bladder and contributes to bladder cancer, etc. For the waterworks
to be healthy, we need to drink a lot of water!

Two medium sized arteries branch from the middle of the aorta and carry blood to the kidneys. These
are called renal arteries. The heart pumps blood through the renal arteries and the kidneys at a rate of
about 2000 quarts every 24 hours. The average adult has only about 5 quarts of blood, therefore it is
obvious that one's total blood supply goes through the kidneys about 400 times every 24 hours.

This constant pumping action keeps you and your heart well. By drinking enough water every day,
you help your kidneys do their job. On warm days you will need more water than on cooler days. If
you did not have kidneys to recycle the water in your body, you would have to drink something like
800 glasses of water each day. Let me explain why.

The heart circulates its five quarts of blood about every minute. This means that every day the heart
pumps about 8,000 quarts, of which 2,000 go to the kidneys. Most of this blood goes to nourish the
kidney structures, the adrenals and other surrounding tissues. Two hundred quarts (of the 2,000) are
passed through the 1.25 million microscopic filtering units (glomeruli) in each kidney. However, only
one and one-half quarts of this amount is excreted as urine. The rest of the 200 quarts is reabsorbed
into the blood. As the water loss in the urine must be replaced, the theoretical replacement for the total
is 200 quarts or 800 8 ounce glasses of water (four 8 ounce cups make one quart). Thanks to the
kidneys we do not have to drink all this water daily!

However if we do not get this water replaced through our intake of fluids, then water is taken from the
blood, and the circulation becomes sluggish, and affects every cell, tissue and organ in the body.

A lack of sufficient water in the urine leads to stagnation in the bladder. This irritates the lining of the
bladder and sets it up for infection. In the case of smokers, coal tars are excreted by the kidneys and
can lead to cancer of the bladder. Such a simple thing as drinking water can help to prevent all of these
bladder problems.

SUNSHINE
“Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be
consumed within me.” Job.19.27.
Sunlight affects the kidneys by lowering blood pressure and increasing the oxygen rate of the blood. It
also indirectly helps the kidney by helping all the other organs of elimination, such as the liver skin
bowels, lungs, etc, which in turn cause a reduction of stress upon these delicate organs.

PROPER REST
“I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.”
Psa.16.7.

Every cell also follows a cycle of rest and work! Heart muscle – contracts then rests for 1/10th of a
second! Short, but take that rest away and you’re in big trouble! Kidney cells operate in shifts – 1/3 in
action, 1/3 preparing for action & 1/3 resting.

It is not just sleep or lack of activity that the kidney needs to rest from, but also to rest from a barrage
of toxins that it has to process and deal with otherwise it cannot rest even when your at rest.

INTEMPERANCE
“For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.” Psa.139.13.

“...kidney disease...are the result of immoderate eating.” HL.176.

Sometimes it is necessary for us to recover health from an intemperate diet to undergo a fast for a short
period of time.

“Intemperate eating is often the cause of sickness, and what nature most needs is to be relieved of the
undue burden that has been placed upon her. In many cases of sickness, the very best remedy is for the
patient to fast for a meal or two, that the overworked organs of digestion may have an opportunity to
rest. A fruit diet for a few days has often brought great relief to brain workers. Many times a short
period of entire abstinence from food, followed by simple, moderate eating, has led to recovery
through nature's own recuperative effort. An abstemious diet for a month or two would convince many
sufferers that the path of self-denial is the path to health.” MH.235.

Fasting does greatly benefit the kidneys and other eliminative organs by giving them a chance to catch
up with the removal of accumulative waste.

Substances such as coffee, tea and alcohol place an added burden upon the urinary organs. Coffee has
been reported to cause bladder cancer, and increases the acidity of the urine, as does tea and alcohol.
Smoking causes vitamin C deficiency which is also responsible for preventing bladder cancer.

NUTRITION
“Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God
trieth the hearts and reins.” Psa.7.9.

It is an established fact that certain foods have a role to play in causing kidney and bladder disease, but
it is just as certain that God has also placed in nature foods that will also have a therapeutic effect in
the recovery these diseases.

One of the biggest causes of kidney disease is MEAT EATING, as it creates a high level of uric acid
in the blood which the kidneys have to eliminate, and cause crystals in the body, and can lead to the
formation of kidney stones. It has been discovered that vegetarians have 1/3 as many kidney stones as
do meat eaters, which may be due to vegetarians eating twice as much fiber in their diet as do meat
eaters.

Soft drinks produce a high incidence of kidney stones, because they contain excessive amounts of
PHOSPOROUS which is known to drive CALCIUM from the bones and allows it to form stones.

Drugs can also cause kidney damage, such as ANTIACIDS, and ASPIRIN. The large amounts of
CALCIUM CARBONATE found in anti-acids is hard on the kidneys,

In a study of patients with KINEY FAILURE, 20% of the cases were caused by ASPIRIN and other
pain killers such as ACETOMINOPHEN and PHENACETIN.

Lack of magnesium has been demonstrated in causing kidney infection, so eat lots of fresh greens
straight out of the garden, (or someone else’s).

Salt has been shown increase the calcium in the urine, which is an agent used in the formation of
kidney stones.

Foods to eat for kidney disease:

Honey – Raw and unfiltered, has medicinal value in the treatment of kidney disorders.
Nuts and seeds – High in magnesium, which binds itself to oxalate, which makes it less likely to form
crystals.
Parsley – Acts as a solvent for uric acid.
Fresh fruits & Vegetables – Especially CARROT, CELERY, CUCUMBER, GARLIC, PARSLEY,
and WATERCRESS.
Asparagus – Breaks up uric acid in the kidneys.
Pineapple juice – Has helped the body to pass kidney stones.

For the bladder, eat the following:

Garlic and cranberry juice, excellent in fighting infection.

Cornsilk Tea – Has a soothing effect on the kidney, bladder, and urinary problems, it can clear up PUS,
INFECTION, BURNING, or SCALDING. It seems to heal these diseased areas, and can flush out
URIC ACID, TOXINS, and other poisons.
