Inaugural dance
This dance is the form of indian contemporary. Dancers perform to
the song adharam madhuram ,where the lord Krishna is praised in
the song and dancers use nritha hastha to convey the meaning
and showcase different formations on the stage.

2. Karimaye
This song is a folk dance where, devi is praised. This song has
been used for a play in kannada , which is written by
chandrashekar kambar. This song gained a lot of popularity after
the poet won jnanan peeta prashasthi. Here devotes dance and
praise the local goddess of village karimaye.

3. Tippani
It Is one of the popular folk dances of Gujarat state of India. It
originated from Sorath, one of the five prominent regions of
Saurastra, . In this dance, women labourers engaged in
construction work strike long sticks on the floor, which are called
Tippani, thus the name. They also use a rhythmic musical process
to escape from the workload. This dance is one of the examples of
the virile dance forms of the folk dances in Gujarat. Tippani dance
is a dance form of the manual worker who splurges their living by
flouting stones or echelon the ground to crack the tedium of the
work. In the performance, each woman assets a Tippani,
conflicting to each other with the accessory of a folk song.
Generally, members of the Halli community perform this energetic
dance form.
Tippani dance is practiced in a group. The dance begins through
the beating and singing of the earth, done in the identical rhythm.
As the rapidity speeds up, the dancers alternately strike the
ground and hit the knob of the mallets collectively. Then they

start exhibiting different body movements and formations while


they perform
At present ,Tippani dance is usually performed on festivals like
Holi or Diwali and on the ceremonies like wedding. It is also
included as competition item in various cultural programmes
organized by schools and colleges.

4. Kalbeliya
The Kalbeliyas, is a snake-charmer community from
Rajasthan.The Kalbeliya women dancers wear long, black
coloured, drindled-skirts heavily worked with embroidery and
light-coloured thread along with small pieces of mirrors. . As the
women dancers move in a circle, while dancing, their body sway
acrobatically and making flexible movements. The beat of the
dance increases in tempo and also there is an increase in their
pace of the dance. The performance relies heavily to the music of
`been` and `duff`.

5.a. Karakattam
It is an ancient folk dance of Tamil Nadu performed in praise of
the god.The performers balance a pot on their head . Traditionally,
this dance is categorized into two types- Aatta Karakam is danced
with decorated pots on the head and symbolizes joy and
happiness. It is mainly performed to entertain the audience. The
Sakthi Karakam is performed only in temples as a spiritual
offering.In Karakattam, intricate steps and body/arm movements
decides the skill of performer. The pots are decorated in many
ways with the help of attractive flower arrangements, topped by a
moving paper parrot. The parrot rotates as the dancer moves.

5.b. Kavadiyattam
Kavadiyattam, a colourful ritual art, is a votive offering to Lord
Subramanya. Basically of Tamil origin.Dressed in bright yellow or
saffron robes, devotees performing kavadiyattam smear vibhoothi
or sacred ash all over their body. Each one carries on his shoulder
an ornate Kavadi - a huge bow, richly decorated with peacock
feathers,. Kavadiyattam literally means dance carrying a
kavadi.The dancers twist and spin in a row and also perform
different stunts with the kavadi.

6.a. Kathak
It Is one of the classical dances of India and one of the most
dynamic theater arts in the world. The word Kathak is derived
from katha, meaning the art of storytelling. After the muslim
influence ,this art has involved a lot of technicality than story
telling , the technical part of kathak includes both complicated
footwork and spins for differnt counts.Today Kathak has evolved
into a concert hall art form imbibing both Hindu and the Muslim
influences from its history and also have different types of kathak
as in laknow gharana, jaipur gharana and so on .

6.b. Odissi
Odissi is one of the famous classical Indian dances from Orissa
state. The history of Odissi dance is almost two thousand years
old. Odissi is a highly inspired, passionate, ecstatic and sensuous
form of dance.
In its present form Odissi is a well established and codified
classical dance form of India.
One of the most distinguishing features of Odissi dance is the
Tribhangi. The notion of Tribhang divides the body into three

parts, head, bust and torso. The postures dealing with these three
elements are called Tribhangi. This concept has created the very
characteristic poses which are more twisted than found in other
classical Indian dances. This form always follows chouk as its
basic posture. Mudra is also an important component of Odissi
dance.

6.c. Manipuri
Manipuri is a classical dances of India. Manipuri dance is
indigenous to Manipur, the North eastern state of India. The most
striking part of Manipur dance is its colorful decoration, lightness
of dancing foot, delicacy of abhinaya (drama).The Manipuri dance
form is mostly ritualistic and draws heavily from the rich culture of
the state of Manipur. It is one of the modest, softest and mildest
and meaningful dances.According to legends the original creator
of Manipuri dance was Radha and Krishna.
