Louis Kahn

Louis Isadore Kahn, born on February 20, 1901, was an American


Architect. He was the leading founder of Atelier a international
practices in the world. During the time period of 1947 to 1957 he
served as a Professor of Architecture and a Design Critic at the Yale
School Of Architecture. At the same time he was continuing his private
practice.

After that until he died he served as a Professor at the School of Design at the
University of Pennsylvania. Louis created his own Architectural Style which
was Monumental and Monolithic, which looked to be heavy and didnt hide its
weight.

In 1953, Louis I kahn was elected as a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects[FAIA],
it is given to those architects who have done a outstanding contribution in the field of
Architecture.
In 1964, he was made one of the members of National Institute of Arts and Letters. The same
year he was also awarded with the Frank P. Brown Medal.
The very next year 1965, he was announced as an Associate Academician in the National
Academy of Design.
In 1968, he was made one of the members of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
In 1971, he was awarded the AIA Gold Medal which is the highest award given by AIA to
any individual.
In 1972, he was awarded by the RIBA with the Royal Gold Medal.
