responsibility for performance against the project schedule and budget as well as
technical quality. The BTR leads will be responsible for ensuring that the final
engineering and design packages conform to client requirements and applicable
codes. All work shall be designed in accordance with the PES Engineering
Practices guidelines and applicable US Codes and Standards and Jacobs
Standard Operating Procedures, including the JSTEPS Work Process flow
diagrams, as applicable to the project.
The piping scope is and will be limited to aboveground piping. Underground
piping will be designed by Jacobs Civil/Structural design group. All piping design
shall use the basic Intergraph Plant Design System (PDS) 3D software. Stress
Analysis will follow the Jacobs standard procedures.
2.0 Workshare Responsibilities and Work Areas
The project piping scope is defined as two separate areas; FCBW and DDU. The
piping design for both areas will be conducted solely in the VAR office.
The BTR Piping activities include:
Design support
1. Home office design reviews.
2. Maintain all control documents (PFDs, P&ID redlines, Line List, Tie-In
List, Specialty items list and Equipment Arrangements).
3. Coordinate and communicate with the Jacobs workshare offices
regarding all piping design activities and deliverables for the project.
4. Daily review and prompt resolution for items requested via the Piping
Design Needs List.
5. Establish priorities of work.
6. Participate in both internal and formal client PDS model reviews to
provide input, approval, and recommendations for design.
7. Coordinate follow-up activities to the model reviews.
8. Perform final approval of all piping designed in the VAR office.
9. Issue all piping deliverables and drawings. (P&IDs, Line List, Tie-In
List, Specialty Item List, Plot Plans, Isometric, Demolition drawings,
Equipment Arrangement drawings, and Steam Tracing Packages)
Administration/Coordination/General

Conduct Squad Checks and Vendor Data Reviews to ensure

compliance with design requirements and specifications.
Develop and maintain the BTR Deliverable Status Report, Effort Hour
Forecast Report, schedule, schedule updates, and staffing plans.
Provide management, supervision and leadership for the BTR Piping
group.
Provide general engineering administrative support to the Project
Team as required.

4.0 Interoffice Model Reviews

During FEL3 BTR will monitor the design by means of Smart Plant Review.
When VAR has designated lines ready for model review the date is entered into
PDM progressing. BTR will validate the lines are ready for the model review and
enter the date into PDM progressing.
5.0 Stress Analysis
VAR is responsible for stress analysis of all lines in accordance with the
procedures and technical guidelines. BTR will review and approve all stress
analysis performed by VAR for completeness, uniformity and conformance with
project specifications.
All isometrics will be extracted and reviewed by VAR piping design before
submitting for stress analysis.
Final stress analysis files are to be posted in JPI and issued by the BTR VAR
Piping Engineering Lead.
6.0 Internal Approval Model Reviews
BTR will conduct the internal approval model reviews in accordance with the
project schedule. Comments from the reviews will be tagged during the review
and sent to VAR for confirmation and incorporation into the models. Tagged
comments are to be resolved prior to the next model review.
7.0 Client Approval Model Reviews
BTR will conduct the internal approval model reviews in accordance with the
project schedule. Comments from the reviews will be tagged during the review
and sent to VAR for confirmation and incorporation into the models. Tagged
comments are to be resolved prior to the next model review.
An agenda shall be prepared by the BTR Piping Lead prior to each Model review
and distributed to the attendees. The agenda will be comprised of a list of lines/
isos as extracted from the PDM progressing database.
BTR will document which lines have gone thru the model review by entering the
appropriate date in the PDM progressing database.
VAR Piping will keep track of areas and lines that have been reviewed and are
being reviewed in the scheduled review by way of highlighted P&IDs. Proper
color coding is to be followed to distinguish between approved, reviewed and
offered lines.
A copy of the Master Mark-up P&IDs, Equipment Location Drawings and any
applicable equipment drawings shall be made available for the model review
session.
