Final Metacognitive Reflection
1. When I look back at my summer reading writing sample I get a little disappointed
on how vague I was on my topic and how I didnt properly format my paper. Now that I
know how to format and be more specific about the topic of my paper I can see how
much I have improved. I thought I was a better writer than I thought I was after the
summer but I think because I had a long break from writing papers, I lost some of the
skills I had before.
2. As an analytical writer, I think I have improved a lot. I am way more clear about
my topic and what my paper is about than I was before and I think that I format my paper
way better than before. Now I understand how to write a proper and strong paper
whereas before I was really still guessing on the proper way to write a paper. The quotes
I use are well analyzed more often than before when I just wrote quotes for the sake of
having to include quotes.
3. I still struggle with understanding how much is enough. I often write too much or
add in too many quotes which dont really need to be in there and sometimes I dont
even realize it after I get the grades back. I sometimes think that if I write more, it will be
easier to understand but it really doesnt make it easier.
4. To overcome this, I asked more people to peer edit my paper after I finish writing
it and ask them to delete any unnecessary information. This allows my paper to be more
clear.
5. I still need to work on writing more formal essays and also work on analyzing
texts with devices and symbolism and motifs because I feel like I am still a little shaky in
that area. I also think writing more formal essays will help me improve the quality of my
essays and help me better understand how to write a proper formal essay.

6. I am particularly proud of my propaganda project because I felt so strong about

what I was writing about and was really proud of it and how it sounded and how clear the
message was at the end. I think this was my most favorite piece of the semester.
7. I love using the loop structure because it has a clear format on how to write your
paper and I think it helped me organize my paper really well. I am a fan of the loop
structure and use it in most of my essays.
8. Mrs. Cracchiolo is a very good teacher. She helps you with anything you want
her to help with and she always makes sure we understand what we are supposed to
do. She is a very chill teacher and I feel like I can tell her anything. If we ever need any
extra help with anything she provides it happily which is one of her great qualities. Also
the comments she makes on your assignments really helps you and she also provides
comments to improve your writing. I like how she had a conference with us about our
formal essays discussing our strengths and weaknesses and how to fix them.
9. Mrs. Cracchiolo can improve by having more projects on each topic to better
understand the topic such as symbolism and motifs because sometimes it is confusing.
10. I think this semester really improved my writing standard and I think it helped me
better understand how to write papers. Next semester I think a major goal to set for
myself is to incorporate stronger vocabulary in my writing to make my writing more
effective.
