First, we will go over Major Status Conditions.

Major Status Conditions will stay

with you after a battle ends, will not be cured on their own (with the exception of Sleep
and Freeze), and when a Pokmon is afflicted by one they will have a little tab next to
their name and info, both in-battle and in the Pokmon party viewing tab of your menu.
Additionally, all of the Major Status conditions have items and berries to cure each of
them, as will be outlined below. A Pokmon can only have one Major Status Condition
at a time, and once a Pokmon is inflicted with one, trying to inflict it with others will fail.

The Lum Berry will instantly cure any Major Status Condition, while the berry
listed in the chart will only cure the one status condition it is listed for. This can
potentially be useful in a competitive setting, as ones Pokmon can use the move Rest
to completely refresh the Pokmon (other than the PP of moves), then instantly wake
up due to a Chesto Berry, instead of possibly having the Lum Berry consumed due to a
previous inflicted major status condition.

The ability Comatose give the Pokmon all of the negative effects of sleep,
minus its prevention from attacking. This also means that the Pokmon cannot be
affected by any other status conditions, including, ironically, the actual sleep status
condition, and can use moves like Sleep Talk and Snore that only work when the
attacking Pokmon is asleep.
