Module 7: Data Replication & Recovery

Introduction
In this module you learn how to perform replication
with a Data Domain system. This module covers:
Data replication

Data recovery

Objectives

Identify how replication improves storage

Perform replication

Perform data recovery

Lesson 1: Data Replication

Introduction
Data replication enables you to replicate data
between remote sites for
disaster recovery

remote site data protection

multiple site tape consolidation

This lesson teaches you more about data replication,

& how to manage it in a Data Domain system

EMC Education Services

Objectives
Describe replication & why its important

Identify replication types

Describe replication seeding & why its

important

Describe replication throughput

Describe WAN efficiency with a Data Domain

system

Describe & perform resyncing data

Low Bandwidth Optimization Benefits

Reduces data sent (low bandwidth links)

Adds increased data compression (network

Configure Encryption Over Wire

To encrypt data sent over the wire, in the Enterprise
Manager

Replication > select pair > Modify Settings > Check box
for Encryption Over Wire
Both side of the connection must enable Encryption
Over Wire

Encrypted replication uses the ADH-AES256-SHA

cipher suite

A replication pair = context

Replication seeding moves destination & source to
same location
Low-bandwidth optimization reduces the amount of
data sent

Module Review (Continued)

You resynchronize recovered data

To recreate deleted context

If you are out of space

If you want to convert collection replication to directory
