Alexandria, VA, January 20, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Gondwana Chorale, Australia's national youth choir, is
composed of the top auditioned singers, ages 17-26, from across the continent. Established in 2008, the
Chorale performs music that is close to their hearts: new Australian works which capture the mystery and
grandeur of their homeland and display the cultural diversity of the Australian people. Vibrant and
energetic, this ensemble is a powerful expression of the determination of young Australians, working
together to create extraordinary musical experiences.
Directed by Paul Holley, OAM (Associate Director of Birralee Voices) and Carl Crossin, OAM (Head of
Vocal, Choral & Conducting Studies at the Elder Conservatorium of Music), Gondwana Chorale has
released its debut album, SOAR
- with music ranging from Spanish Renaissance to present-day Australia, including Paul Stanhope's
"Lament for St. Cecilia," a technically demanding tour de force of emotional intensity commissioned for
the choir's 2013 European Tour.
Starting on January 23, 2017, Gondwana Chorale will embark on its first-ever American tour, which
features performances at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts' Millennium Stage and
Trinity Church Wall Street, among many others. In addition, the Chorale will collaborate with the Boston
City Singers, an El Sistema-inspired program for younger singers, as well as prestigious collegiate choirs
across the U.S., including the University of Southern California Chamber Singers, University of Redlands
Chapel Singers, Stanford Chamber Chorale, Temple University Concert Choir and Brandeis Chamber
Singers.
From January 23 to February 5, 2017, the Chorale will perform a total of 7 concerts: Redlands, CA; Palo
Alto, CA; Washington, D.C.; Philadelphia, PA; New York, NY; Waltham, MA and Cambridge, MA.
All Gondwana Chorale concerts are free and open to the public!
