All 8th grade students will identify and explain at least %80 of vocabulary about cooking

Instructional Materials & Media
Using objects from realia and a Prezi Presentation, the subject is covered and the
complicated parts of the subject is set to scene by a concept map about related
vocabulary.
Learning-Teaching Methods
Eclectic method by combining Presentation, Drill and Practice and Cooperative
Learning.
Teaching Activities
1- Introducing cooking vocabulary with the help of Prezi Presentation and a concept
map
2-Worksheets for students to write the English name of the object which has a picture
3-Giving examples with the help of objects from realia such as a frying pan, fork, spoon
etc.
4-Doing exercises on the course book as a group of four students.
5-Correcting the mistakes after students complete the exercises on their course books.

Summary
The teacher first introduces the vocabulary about kitchen and cooking by using a
Concept map and a Prezi Presentation which has the pictures of the related vocabulary.
Then the teacher asks the students to write the English names of the objects on the
worksheets that are shown on the Presentation. The teacher continues materializing
the subject by using objects from realia and giving their English pronunciation and
makes them repeat the drills. After that, the teacher groups the students into four and
wants them to do the exercises on their course books. After students have done
completing the exercises as a group, the teacher wants a student from each group to
come forward and to announce the answers. If there are wrong answers, the teacher
gives the correct ones.

The teacher checks the students homework and observe their interest and

If the teacher can not use the online presentation facilities, He\She starts with the
objects from realia and the worksheets to introduce the topic.
If the students dont seem to be interested in doing the exercises on their course
books, the teacher gives tasks the students as a group of four to create flashcards
about the related vocabulary.

Summary
The teacher first introduces the vocabulary and chunks necessary for asking and
answering preferences about likes and dislikes on cooking by writing them on the
whiteboard. While showing and reading aloud from the whiteboard, he/she wants the
students to repeat each vocabulary item after him/her at least 3 times. Then He/she
continues with an infographic to show the words that go together to ask and express
preferences. After that He/she distributes worksheets for dialogue completion. After
completing the task the teacher groups the students to four and wants them to write
another dialogue about cooking and eating preferences and perform it before their
friends. Before the class is over the teacher wants them to rewrite 4 times what they've
jotted down during the class as their homework.

Explanation
The teacher evaluates his/her students by carefully observing them in both individual
and group learning activities. Based on the interest and enthusiasm shown by students
towards the subject, He tries to figure out whether or not studentss will reach the
objective

If the teacher can not use the whiteboard and infographic, he continues with the
textbook to introduce the topic.

Summary
The teacher first introduces the necessary vocabulary with the help of a video that
describes the process of cooking. Then he/she hands out worksheets that have pictures
and English names of certain cooking processes on them and wants students to write
Turkish equivalents of the vocabulary as a group of four students. After they complete
their task he/she corrects their mistakes by going over the worksheet and making them
repeat the vocabulary at least three times. Then she replays the video and makes
students repeat the vocabulary on the video after him/her. After that he/she wants
students to form groups of four students and perform which cooking process they want
before the class by using objects from realia. After the performance they will take an
online quiz that constitutes %75 of their general marks.
