DEDICATION
Our human compassion binds us to one another- not in pity or patronizingly, but as human
beings who have learnt how to turn our common suffering in to hope for the future
(Nelson Mandela)
I dedicate this research work to God who has indeed been my muse in all ramifications of life.
Also, it is with a heavy heart that I dedicate this research project to my deceased brother, Agbo
U. Godwin, whose influence while alive has culminated in the festering of my livelihood. Your
presence is solely missed.
This research is also dedicated to the future of politics in Africa; to the sanguinity of a
decadence- free political environment in Africa and, of course, Nigeria.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I am especially grateful to my supervisor, Dr. Patrick Oloko, whose profound contribution,
despite a clogged schedule, is the essential catalyst that has birthed this research work.
Also, to my lovely parents, Chief Okpe Agbo Abah and Mrs. Agbo Agnes, whose disposition
towards me has instilled an inerasable set of values which have and are still guiding me through
life. Moreover, to my brothers, Dr. Sunny Desmond Agbo (Canada), Okpe Agbo Raphael, Agbo
Micheal Ogbada, and my sisters, Monica Agbo, Blessing Agbo, Maria Agbo, Janet Agbo, and
Christiana Agbo (Mama G). In entirety, to all descendants of the Okpe lineage cum legacy.
Finally, to those classmates of mine in the Department of English, University of Lagos who have,
in one way or the other, contributed to my academic aspirations.
