Practical 10: Investigating the qualitative effect of concentration

on equilibrium
Objectives

Safety

Be able to set up an iron(III) complexion equilibrium

Wear eye protection and

chemical-resistant gloves.

Be able to monitor the effect of

concentration on the equilibrium

Remove strong acids

from the working area.

Know that a dynamic equilibrium exists

in a closed system, when the rate of
the forward reaction is equal to the rate
of the reverse reaction and the
concentrations of reactants and
products do not change

Iron(III) salts are harmful

at this concentration.

Know how le Chateliers principle can

be used to predict the effect of a
change in temperature, pressure or
concentration on the position of
equilibrium
