were mesmerising. Could only cover these places (including Kumbalgarh Fort, Lake Pichola
and Lake Fateh Sagar). Missed Shrinathji, Haldighati, Eklinji, Saheliyon ki bari and Chittorgarh
which I promise to cover in my next trip to this beautiful city of the Lakes. The food at Nataraj
Restaurant was very good. And the local Rajasthani food at Shipagram (Mela) was amazing at
a very cheap price, must try however didn't really find the Mela as good and it seemed to be for
the localities." - Manita , Mumbai, 6 days ago

Located in the deserts of Rajasthan and at an altitude of 598m above sea level, the picturesque
town of Udaipur has a tropical climate. The summer is hot and the winter is pleasant; but
throughout the town remains dry except for when it enjoys the occasional showers.
The three main seasons that it goes through are summer, a short monsoon, and winter.
Although quite hot during the summers, Udaipur is comparatively less ravaged by the summer
heat as compared to some of the other places in Rajasthan which could be because of the
beautiful lakes that encircles it.
The summer months in Udaipur starts at around middle of March and continues till around early
July. During these months the mercury sores with the maximum temperature often touching,
and at times crossing 40 Celsius. The average maximum temperature in Udaipur during
summer is around 38.3 Celsius. However, like all desert towns, the temperature often dips
during the evenings and nights and is accompanied by a cool, dry desert wind. So if one
Page 14/15
chooses to enjoy this beautiful historic town during the summer months, the best would be to
ventures out only during the evenings.
Monsoon in Udaipur arrives in the month of July. The town does not experience much rainfall
and the average annual rainfall here is about 637mm. During this time the humidity reaches
around 90 per cent and the temperature remains within 11.6 Celsius to 28.3 Celsius.
Monsoons here are characterized by dusty winds and thunderstorms.
Winter in Udaipur is quite pleasant. During this time the temperature goes down and the
weather remains dry and pleasant. The days are sunny and comfortably warm, while the nights
are cool and at times slightly chilly due to the desert winds, which add to the charm of the place.
During the nights the temperature goes down substantially as compared to the daytime, and the
average night temperature is around 11.6 Celsius. The winter season here starts around
October and continues till the month of March.
The best season to visit Udaipur is certainly the winter during which time the beautiful historic
town is at its pleasant best, weather-wise, and gives visitors a chance to explore it while
enjoying a pleasant and comfortable weather.
