Statement of Purpose

Pursuing a master degree is a responsibility I owe to myself as well as a commitment I have to

others. I refer to it as a responsibility because I have a proactive outlook on life, which makes me
actively seek and go after the things that I want to accomplish in life. I refer to it as a
commitment because I want to be an example to others of the attainments and contribution to
society that women can make. It is here that a more pronounced goal took shape in my mind, an
amalgamation of all my skills and interests along with the academic foundation provided by my
undergraduate studies helped me to choose Masters in Human Resource Management, as it is
the only business discipline that is closely linked to the Management aspect of my career goals
which I believe is my area of interest and strength in terms of the skills I possess such as time
management, persuasion, social insightfulness, strategic negotiation and patience. Human
resources is a great field for driven, organized individuals who are interested in helping
businesses reach their goals and helping employees reach their potential. Almost all companies
have some form of a human resources department, and as the business world becomes more and
more focused on developing human capital, HR professionals are in demand. Even as a very
young child, I realized that listening to the problems of people and also consoling and helping
them to sort it out, made me extremely happy. My friends made me realize that I was a good
counsellor cum good problem solver by my early teen age years. Yes, I am an extrovert with
extreme patience- The two qualities necessary to succeed in this industry.
In this age of increasing specialization, I hope to develop myself into a specialist on human
resource management with the best training from one of the worlds best academic institutes.
Therefore, receiving a quality education is vital step to my personal and career development and
to the fulfillment of this long-cherished aspiration of mine. Being an individual, who is clear
about academic interest and future career objectives, I have therefore relinquished the offer in
favour of applying for a more advanced education in Human Resource management. As a
discipline western in origin, management science is undoubtedly a field of study whose teaching
and research western universities are most good at. Therefore, I am determined to apply for a
Masters program at Griffith University arguably the better of the best western universities in the
area of HR. Your esteemed university enjoys a unique academic position and an unparalleled
academic reputation in the western world, with a large number of leading scholars working in
their respective fields. Situated in Australia where one can witness distinctive cultural
parallelism, it will not only teach me the most updated professional knowledge but also ample
sociological understanding of its cultural diversity.
The motivation behind choosing Australia as my destination for higher education has collective
reasons. I found that Australia is a safe, friendly, sophisticated and harmonious society in which
students can learn and travel. People from almost every aspect of world reside here; students can
be a part of multicultural environment and cultural activities. Australia offers an educational
experience that makes a real difference. It provides a unique kind of education and a learning

style that encourages one to be innovative, creative and think independently. It is evident that
Graduates from Australia are very successful in finding jobs and hold prominent positions
worldwide. The living standard in Australia is quite high as compared to competitive nations.
International students in Australia can work up to 40 hours per fortnight, allowing them to earn
money, gain useful work experience in a foreign country and meet a variety of new
people. Above all these, my interest and ambition to live in a foreign country which can be
adaptable for me by abiding my own culture, made me choose Australia.
Iam a graduate of Bachelor of Business Management from Bangalore University and the
duration of the course is 3 complete years (2012-15). My specialization subject is Human
Resource Management consisting of Strategic HRM, Employee Welfare & Social Security in 5 th
semester and Organizational Change&Development; Compensation Management n 6 th semester
as main subjects has provided me with strong theoretical foundation in HR areas as well as
fortified me with explicit communication skills. The exuberant participation in Management
Club activities as Human Resource in- charge reinforced what I learned and helped me relate the
theoretical concepts to everyday instances. I could supplement my learning in the college with
the experience I had by undergoing an internship of one month during my third semester break,
2013 with Projects Department of Bahrain Gas Co. W.L.L (a renowned company in Kingdom of
Bahrain) under the guidance of Project Manager, Dr.Rithin Raj. As a business management
student, exposure to all areas of business were provided to us as students, through which we
underwent an internship in a Telecommunication based Company namely WeChat as a digital
marketing trainee for a period of 2 months. My willingness to learn and appreciate every
opportunity to learn new things provided me a privilege to be part of another internship and
training in a construction company called Dadhabhai Constructions, Kingdom of Bahrain over a
period of one and a half month in Training and development wing under the guidance of the
Assistant General Manager, Mr.Vinod Kumar A, during my final semester vacation.

My career goal is to work in a leading firm that places priority on professionalism and lead such
organization towards attainment of set goals by making use of knowledge garnered as well as
experience. Ten years from now I see myself as a Human Resource Manager/ Generalist,
providing professional advice so that others can make the best decisions and an employee who
deals with right from performance appraisal to decision of fringe benefits. I believe a Master
degree in Human Resource Management is all I need to make this dream come true. It fits the
profile of this goal. Being a person whose belief is that learning never ends, I may explore the
field of HR in gaining more and more knowledge. Perhaps some of my greatest attributes is that I
am smart, hardworking, and inquisitive. I am sensitive and genuinely interested in others, which
makes me confident that HRM is the path I want to tread. Human resources are vital to any
organization: without people the organization would not function.

Apart from academic excellence, I have lived a colorful extracurricular life. . Learning dancing
in my childhood, I became one among the regular contestant in almost all the cultural activities,
right from small classes to college and also have been the cultural coordinator of different
cultural fest held in college campus. Being an active member in management club, my team had
organized Business quiz during inter- college fest. After completion of my degree by the month
of July 2015 , I took my 5-6 months time in acquaintance with a Non- Governmental
Organization, popularly known as The Art of Living Foundation as a service activity in their HR
Department namely, The Art of Living HR. They mainly focus on helping talented as well as
illiterate people in getting a job with efficient clients in free of cost. I consider myself as a
privilege that I was able to associate with them as a HR Trainee. I find immense pleasure and
satisfaction when I indulge in such kind of service activity and would like to continue so, even
after achieving my goals to be a HR Professional.
I chose this university because of its great reputation, its renowned academic excellence, and
good industry links as well as flexible postgraduate schemes. I look forward to being a part of a
