Born in the East End he became a
photographic assistant at the John
French studio, then photographer for

for BriLsh Vogue magazine in 1960.
He is also a freelance photographer.

was a "prolic, widely imitated fashion photographer whose

interested in photography from the age of 12 when he
purchased his rst camera, he worked for the German

My IniLal Ideas

My First IniLal Idea:

This idea is inspired by Rankins

photography work, Rankin's
chooses to take portraits of the
upper part of the body. I would
take a photo of my head and
shoulders to show my personality
by wearing a range of dierent
hats. This amplies that I can be
both condent yet shy as my face
can be hidden slightly by the hat
but also the hat which I wear
shows that I'm condent to be
able to wear them in public. The
image will be in black and whit to
help emphasise my facial features
and help to add the darker side.

My Second IniLal Idea:

This idea is inspired by David Baileys

work, I would have a black and white
image of the top half of my body, this
is to hide the rest of my body as I am
self conscious about the way I look.
This photo will help to highlight my
face and eyes showing that that area
of my body is the most condent

My Third IniLal Idea:

My third idea was inspired by Helmut

Newton, this is because I would do a full
body shot. One half of the image will
show me in my school uniform to
emphasise that I'm condent and then
on the other side I would show a less
condent image of myself by wearing
baggy clothes to show my self hiding
away. On this photo I would face away
from the camera whereas my condent
side I would face directly towards the
camera.

My Developed Idea
My Developed Idea:

For my developed ideas I decided to use the elements of all three of my arLsts to create a series of photos which shows my personality. The
photos would be mainly facial shots much like David Bailey and Rankin, I would be wearing my panda hat and glasses to express my fun
nature whilst also displaying condence. With inuence from David Bailey I would pose with a plain expression as a model would. I would
then take some photos of my fully body, much like Helmut Newton. This would show my condence and emphasis being a dominant
person, in these photos I will be wearing my school uniform. The back drop for my images will be plain white and the lighLng will be faced
directly towards me so you can clearly see my facial expressions and features. Using the lighLng will allow me to have a shadow forming in
the background. Having the lighLng in the correct will help to make a solid shadow.

My First Final Design

This is the original image
which I have chosen to edit
as it shows my condence
and personality by wearing
a panda hat as well as my
fun side while pulling a
face, like Rankins work.

I changed my image to
black and white, then I
duplicated the image and
changed the brightness and
contrast of the rst image.

Then using the rubber tool,

I gradually rubbed out my
face on the bo>om image
so that when I merged the
image together my facial
features will be highlighted
more.

My Second Final Design

I chose this image as a
nal image as its a
posed image showing
me being a condent
woman, like Helmut
Newtons work.

I then used the ll tool

and changed the
background to white
and then I used the
burner tool to make
my shadow bold and
black.

Using the adjustments,

I changed my image to
black and white.

This is my nal design

once I have made all
the changes.

My Third Final Design

This is my third idea that I
chose to edit as I think
the image captured my
condence and was
inspired by David Baileys
model photos.

I then used the

adjustment tool to create
a black and white image
and then crop it down so
I get more of a focus on
my eyes.

I then changed the

shadows and highlights
to sharpen my facial
features.
