Book of the Month:
Valley of Vision: A Collection of Puritan Prayers & Devotions
by Arthur Bennett
Reading Valley of Vision has been a great help to me. The
content of these prayers reflect the spiritual hunger that
exists in all of our souls. The heart cries of saints who have
gone before us have often become my own and have given
me truths to meditate on throughout the day. -Pastor Andrew

Monday
Please review the points from yesterdays sermon and
with a heart open before the Lord, evaluate those characteristics, positive or negative, in your own life. And remember honest confession leads to abundant forgiveness and
joy.
Tuesday
Read the quote below, by Mark Dever, and pray about the
example you set for the world around you.
Give heed to what example you set for the world around
you. God has a great plan for His people and for His world;
He calls us to show that by our words and our lives. Are
you doing that? May God help each one of us to be faithful
in this great calling.
Wednesday
We are tempted to think that when that was God who
did something, it should be a big obvious moment.
It should be something unexplainable by any normal
means: a miracle of sorts. But this is rarely the way God
works, and should we choose to believe this lie, we will
miss out on seeing Gods hand at work in so many of the
beautiful intricacies of our lives. We should expect God
in the ordinary. He sovereignly controls all things. Joseph
did not yet know, when he was taken into slavery and
put in prison, all that God was doing to save the people
and fulfill his promises to Abraham. Job did not hear the
conversation in heaven. Ruth and Boaz did not know
that God was crafting the lineage for the Promised One
when they met during the harvest. There was no blinking
light to indicate Gods presence and activity through the
mundane and sometimes difficult circumstances of life.
There will be no such blinking light in your life today, and
yet, it will be just as true that a wise Father is carefully
sculpting his perfect plan in the ordinary circumstances
your life.
Thursday
Each of us is well aware that we do not know everything.
We have blind spots in our lives. We have weaknesses.
We have areas of life in which we need desperately to
improve. And yet, we show up to church week after week
seldom dealing honestly with these things. We spend time
in one anothers houses rarely discussing our own shortcomings. This ought not to be true of us. Gods people
ought to be the most humble and most transparent about
our own failures. We ought to be the most honest people
about our own sins. We ought to be able to easily confess
to one another the temptations which plague us and seek
help from our fellow brothers and sisters. And yet, out of
fear of what people will think, we too often spend our time
avoiding such topics, while everyone else does the same.
Resolve that you will be the one to put an end to the
silence by speaking openly with the appropriate people
about your need for grace in your marriage and your parenting. Be the one who is first to seek counsel about your
finances and your temper and your besetting sins. Youll
find, not only help and hope, but that you are not alone.
