1. Coming up with the idea

This is the very first stage of designing, where the basics will be set
out. There are a few sub-steps to consider here:
1. Which movement type will the bot use, this is a major factor to have
in mind while designing as in most cases the decision will majorly

affect the bots aesthetics and over all shape, I.E; a mech would usually
have 2-4 legs and then the body would either be humanoid,
"hunched"/a horizontal build, or a combination of the two, Where as
hovers tend to almost always be flat due to the type of movement and
how it works. Can you see what I'm getting at?

1.5. Also decide where the mirror line will be and if the bot is
symmetrical or not.
2. Once you've chosen the movement type what type of chassis will
the bot have? Do you want the bot to have, I.E; (Mech) , Humanoid ,
Hunched / Flat or Half, half?

8.2
Oculus
Tesla Hover

**Note I'm using mechs as a example a lot as I build them a lot hover
ever the steps are applicable to any type, in the short select a
movement type and the a general shape.
Here's a bit of a more extensive list:
Mechs
-Humanoid, Flat

Copters

*Most* bots can be classified as one of these.

2. Executing to a basic level

Now that you have come up with your basic shape, build it :D .
At this point you should add any damage redirection you may want in
the bot (this can be added later its just a lot easier to build around it)
So:
- A basic shape should be formed (pretty much just boxes to define
major parts such as "guns" or boosters.
- All functional components should be able to be mounted (even if this
is just a skeleton for lone MSMG/MPlasma)

3. Adding the details

This is the point where is gets good. Time to add the details :D
Don't be afraid to go "over the top" here as there is rarely such a

thing, here are a few example details:

-Aerorods are great for this :D
Here is a bunch:
http://albumizr.com/a/zA8
!Glass! use this to make things stand out a bit more than usual, or to
create a bit more depth in what other wise could be very flat, I usually
color glass with the brightest colour in the build.
There are many more detail combos that can be created (I wont list
them all b/c idk them all either :D be creative and get inspiration from
others to help you improve).

4. Refining
At this point I find it to be a good time to go over the very rough
shapes and refine them into lesser boxes that have been smoothed
with prisms and the like.

5. Fin
Now all that is left to do is paint go crazy here :D
and enjoy your new bot.

bots. So that is pretty much all there is to it. (Plus practice c: ), hope
you learnt something :D

Or just off balance it so much it tilts anyway xD

Herperlerpicus says:

That's one way you could tilt a mech the other would
be to build aero rods or chassis cubes down below the
bottom of the feet, take a look at -Ancient- when it
crouches it tilts due to the spikes out back.

You're a pro at making beautiful asymmetrical bots.

I didn't buy a lot of glass cubes and headlights before FSC

Here is a example of the 'H' shape:

http://robocraftgarage.com/robot/kouIJN27
the 'H' is referring to how these bots have split
fronts or rears, into two columns.

Ratings 10.0 context and 10.0 presentation

Comm986 says:

Oh flyers using this method of building, is best to start

with wing placement and shape the bot around that,
unless u want a box in which case I recommend a
3X3XX log, I personally prefer a 3X4XX as it allows 2
layers of wings
