RESEARCH STUDIES

Reach Integrated, in collaboration with ALTAMiRA INFORMATION (Spain), has submitted its
competitive technical & commercial proposals for the deployment of Continuous Subsidence
Monitoring System or CSMS for PETRONAS' new F12JT-A Wellhead Platform. The F12JT-A
Wellhead Platform is one of the facilities planned to be built within the scope of F12 Gas
Development Project
Reach Integrated has submitted its CSMS proposals through several fabricators of offshore
facilities whom are currently bidding for the project directly from PETRONAS' wholly owned
subsidiary - PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd.
The new and un-manned F12JT-A Wellhead Platform has been designed (and will be
deployed) to extract natural gas from its reservoir which is situated directly beneath it.
Studies have shown that extraction of gas from underground gas reservoirs for a long period
of time may cause the ground layer (or formation) directly above the reservoir to undergo
"subsidence phenomenon" due to reduction of gas volume within the reservoir after been

extracted via the gas production process. What this mean is, over a long period of time, the
ground (in this case the sea floor) where the new F12JT-A Wellhead Platform is to be
designated to / standing on may be subjected to this subsidence phenomenon; and that
subsequently F12JT-A may "sink" relative to the sea level.
Reach Integrated (ALTAMiRA INFORMATION's local support partner for this project) will be
monitoring the occurence as well as the magnitude of this subsidence phenomenon which
might be incurred by F12JT-A Wellhead Platform using the advance InSAR Radar Satellite
Technologies.
GlobalSAR Monitoring System (which is ALTAMiRA INFORMATION's processing chain),
will then analyse this data and provide the measurement of subsidence of F12JT-A (if any)
relative to one (or more if required) onshore reference point. GlobalSAR Monitoring System
has the advantage of providing good measurement points, high resolution, precision,
sufficient coverage with high & comprehensive information gathering frequency that will
allow PETRONAS to quantify the platform motion and monitor infrastructure integrity on a
continuous basis.
