A menos de un siglo de su creacin, la Iglesia de la Cienciologa es foco de polmica. Sin
claridad si es una religin legtima o un culto.

Propuesta como filosofa laica en 1952 por el estadounidense escritor de ciencia ficcin L.
Ron Hubbard, y denominada religin un ao despus. Hoy en da es practicada y
promocionada por celebridades y lderes de opinin (John Travolta, Tom Cruise).

Funciona bajo una lgica empresarial. La informacin de la Iglesia se maneja

hermticamente, sin declaraciones pblicas sobre sus prcticas y creencias.

Los miembros estn dentro de un esquema piramidal. Una vez ascendidos suficientes
niveles, son acreedores a saber lo que el fundador de la Iglesia denominaba el gran secreto
de este sector del universo. Una creencia fuertemente criticada, acusada de descabellada
y falsa, que propone la existencia de un ente llamado Xenu.

LA HISTORIA DE XENU:

La Cienciologa cree que hace millones de aos, Xenu, el dictador de una Confederacin
Galctica, resolvi el problema de sobre poblacin con un genocidio descomunal. Trayendo
millones de ciudadanos a la Tierra y detonando bombas de hidrgeno contra ellos.

Tras su muerte, sus almas permanecieron en la Tierra, y supuestamente estn adheridas a

los seres humanos, siendo stas las responsables de las malas decisiones de las
personas.Los ciencilogos llaman thetans a estas almas.

Despus de esta atrocidad, Xenu fue encerrado en algn lugar del planeta, debajo de una
montaa que emite un campo electromagntico, y donde an se encuentra.

AUDITORAS:

Entonces, la Iglesia de la Cienciologa ofrece un servicio llamado auditoras, que consiste en

terapias realizadas por supuestos profesionales. El paciente toma dos manijas con sus
manos, unidas por cables a un aparato en forma de tablero que genera lecturas del
individuo inspeccionado por el auditor. Este tratamiento tiene como objetivo restaurar la

habilidad espiritual de las personas y guiarles en un proceso para desprenderse de los

thetans paulatinamente. Cada auditora tiene un precio econmico.

Los miembros que no pueden pagar por las auditoras comienzan a trabajar para la Iglesia,
que ofrece este servicio de manera gratuita a empleados. Se firma un contrato simblico
por un billn de aos.

INCIDENTES CRIMINALES:

-En 1996, en Francia, el lder de la Iglesia local en la ciudad de Lyons fue encarcelado por
fraude y homicidio involuntario.

-La escritora norteamericana Paulette Cooper public el libro El escndalo de la

Cienciologa, exponiendo sus creencias y organizacin. La Iglesia demand a la mujer, y en
1977 el FBI descubri un plan perpetrado por sta para inculpar a la autora en amenazas de
terrorismo, lo que culminara en su arresto o encierro en una institucin mental.

-En 1979, Mary Sue Hubbard (esposa de L. Ron) fue juzgada junto con otros ciencilogos por
infiltracin en organizaciones gubernamentales y robo de documentos oficiales, lo que
result en su encarcelamiento en una prisin federal.

HOMOFOBIA:

La Cienciologa est basada en principios homofbicos y rechaza abiertamente la

psiquiatra, la psicologa y a los jefes de la prensa.

Segn uno de los manuales de esta religin:

Los homosexuales no practican el amor. Sus relaciones consisten en encuentros breves,

srdidos e impersonales, o arreglos largos caracterizados por dramticos desacuerdos, celos
y frecuente infidelidad. Difcilmente puede ser de otra manera ya que el tono est
compuesto de la sospecha y el odio, produciendo un dulzor tierno esparcido por el pequeo

mal humor. Al fin su amor se convierte en un profundo desprecio.

Hubbard consideraba que, mediante terapias, poda curar la homosexualidad, adems del
asma, la artritis y el trastorno bipolar.

QU DICEN LOS GOBIERNOS?

-En 2007, en Blgica, se anunci el fin de una investigacin a la iglesia y la posibilidad de

presentar cargos.

-En Francia, el parlamento la determin como un culto peligroso.

-En 1993, los Estados Unidos reconocieron a la Cienciologa como una organizacin de
caridad sin nimo de lucro.

-En Alemania, la Iglesia es vista como un a organizacin totalitaria anti democrtica y esta
bajo observacin de seguridad nacional, acusada de violar los derechos humanos de varios
miembros. En 2007, ministros alemanes dijeron que los principios de la Cienciologa estaban
en conflicto con los principios de la constitucin de la Nacin.

Ha sido expuesta como un culto manipulador que incurre en intimidacin y privacin de

informacin, poniendo en duda la legitimidad espiritual de sus prcticas.

that they cannot foresee the pain and trouble that are bound to ensue; and equal blame
belongs to those who fail in their duty through weakness of will, which is the same as saying
through shrinking from toil and pain. These cases are perfectly simple and easy to
distinguish. In a free hour, when our power of choice is untrammelled and when nothing
prevents our being able to do what we like best, every pleasure is to be welcomed and
every pain avoided. But in certain circumstances and owing to the claims of duty or the
obligations of business it will frequently occur that pleasures have to be repudiated and
annoyances accepted. The wise man therefore always holds in these matters to this
principle of selection: he rejects pleasures to secure other greater pleasures, or else he
