AswelearnedintheworkshopentitledIncorporatingRubricsintoInstructionwhichispartof
theStudentSuccessASSESSMENTcertificate,rubricscanbeusedforformativeassessment.
FormativeAssessmentisatoolweusetogaugestudentperformance.Whilegenerallyspeaking
multiplechoicetestsandotherobjectivemeasuresindicatewhatstudentsknow,formative
assessmentsgenerallyindicatewhatstudentscandoandaregenerallyadministeredoften
duringthesemestertohelpFORMinstruction.Studentscanmeasuretheirownprogresswith
rubrics,peerscanmeasureapeersperformance,andtheteachercanmeasurestudent
performance.Iftherubricisreliable,allshouldgetsimilarresults.
SincetherubricworkshopwaslackingonexamplesespeciallyforESL,Ihaveputtogetherafew
