PRAYER FOR ENEMIES

Bless my enemies, O Lord. Even I bless them and do not curse them.
Enemies have driven me into Your embrace more than friends have.
Friends have bound me to earth, enemies have loosed me from earth and have demolished all my
aspirations in the world.
Enemies have made me a stranger in worldly realms and an extraneous inhabitant of the world. Just as a
hunted animal finds safer shelter than an unhunted animal does, so have I, persecuted by enemies, found
the safest sanctuary, having ensconced myself beneath Your tabernacle, where neither friends nor
enemies can slay my soul.
Bless my enemies, O Lord. Even I bless them and do not curse them.
They, rather than I, have confessed my sins before the world.
They have punished me, whenever I have hesitated to punish myself.
They have tormented me, whenever I have tried to flee torments.
They have scolded me, whenever I have flattered myself.
They have spat upon me, whenever I have filled myself with arrogance.
Bless my enemies, O Lord. Even I bless them and do not curse them.
Whenever I have made myself wise, they have called me foolish.
Whenever I have made myself mighty, they have mocked me as though I were a dwarf.
Whenever I have wanted to lead people, they have shoved me into the background.

Whenever I have rushed to enrich myself, they have prevented me with an iron hand.
Whenever I thought that I would sleep peacefully, they have wakened me from sleep.
Whenever I have tried to build a home for a long and tranquil life, they have demolished it and driven me
out.
Truly, enemies have cut me loose from the world and have stretched out my hands to the hem of Your
garment.
Bless my enemies, O Lord. Even I bless them and do not curse them.
Bless them and multiply them; multiply them and make them even more bitterly against me:
so that my fleeing to You may have no return;
so that all hope in men may be scattered like cobwebs;
so that absolute serenity may begin to reign in my soul;
so that my heart may become the grave of my two evil twins, arrogance and anger;
so that I might amass all my treasure in heaven;
ah, so that I may for once be freed from self-deception, which has entangled me in the dreadful web of
illusory life.
Enemies have taught me to know what hardly anyone knows, that a person has no enemies in the world
except himself.
One hates his enemies only when he fails to realize that they are not enemies, but cruel friends.
It is truly difficult for me to say who has done me more good and who has done me more evil in the world:
friends or enemies.
Therefore bless, O Lord, both my friends and enemies.
A slave curses enemies, for he does not understand. But a son blesses them, for he understands.
For a son knows that his enemies cannot touch his life.
Therefore he freely steps among them and prays to God for them.
Bless my enemies, O Lord. Even I bless them and do not curse them.

Dormition of the Mother of God - August 28:

Please, bring a dish for a few people to our pitch-in
lunch, so we can break the fast together.
KSS Slava September 18: Please, join our sisters
for their Slava, following Divine Liturgy.
GOOD SHEPHERD FUND

- We donated for a young man in prison for phone

cards so he can call his family in Serbia and Fr.
Dragan, as well as to the Clergy Brotherhood of the
Serbian Orthodox Church in North America for the
sake of helping the widowed wives of our clergy on
this continent. We also sent donations to the Orthodox
Mission Center, International Orthodox Christian
Charities, ZOE, Orthodox Seminaries in Kodiak,
Alaska and Jordanville, New York, etc.
- Washer and dryer were bought for a family in need,
and furniture (already used, but in good condition)
was provided for a family that just moved from the
old country.
A NEW WILLOW TREE

Weeping willow tree was planted and a memorial

stone (made by Stevens Mortuary) was placed on our
church property in memory of Angelina Fields,
daughter of Jim and Terri Fields. Memory Eternal!

Thank you for your time, talent and treasure!

Following are just some of the people who set an
example:
- Vladimir Osherov for making back-up copies of
all of our precious old group photos;
- All those who helped at the Fish Fries, with the
Holy Week and Pascha flowers, dying Pascha eggs,
roasting lamb and bringing dishes in various
occasions;

- All those who helped restoring and cleaning of the

gravestones at the Floral Park Cemetery (Fr. Dragan,
Mirko Milivojac, Mihail Kovalenko, Rade Savi,
Richard Goris, David Rayman-Rajkovi, Andrej
Djuki, Mile Beri, Mladen Jefteni, Vedran Midalo,
Ranko Radlovi, Luka ivkovi and Dale Smith);
- George Seat for regularly and tirelessly mowing the
grass on our church property;
- David Rayman-Rajkovi for his work in the
vineyard;
- The high school students of the Youth Conference
for helping the nuns of St. Xenia Metochion to clean
the monastery;
- Vladimir Osherov and Vjera Midalo for helping
with the design of the cover page of this bulletin;
- Cristina Tanaskovi for preparing the flyer for the
International Luncheon sponsored by our Choir;
- and many others, not mentioned here this time

INVITATION TO PILGRIMAGES

In the late summer, in the months of August and

September, we may be visiting out-of-town
monasteries in Arizona, California and/or Wisconsin
and Pennsylvania. Men and women will go

This is the time of year when our church receives

fewer donations and for this reason struggles to pay
our routine operating expenses. Please, use the
enclosed envelope for your Summer Donation to our
church.
