Dear Parents:
‘On September 22, 2016, Nichols was evacuated for a short period of time as. a
precautionary measure after a few staff members reported feeling ill. The air was
tested and found to be safe.
Since that time, some staff members have reported similar concerns regarding the
indoor air quality. The aistrict has conducted its own tests and walk-throughs of the
building and worked with the Arlington Fire Department, two independent labs and the
Environmental Protection Agency to conduct additional tests and review our
procedures. To date, nothing out of normal range has been found. A review of
attendance and clinic data does not indicate any unusual number of absences or
clinic visits.
The district will continue to study the air quality work diligently to identify and correct
any possible conditions that may be causing the concerns reported by some Nichols
staff members. To aid in this process, staff members have been asked to remove non-
essential personal items from the building, and the building will continue fo be cleaned
and disinfected according to district operations best practices.
At this time, all of the tests conducted have revealed normal results and any issues
found through visual inspections have been corrected.
Ifyou have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact my office.
Sincerely,
Julie Harcrow
