ABSTRACT
The consumption of energy is the main concern in wireless sensor networks due to its reliability and dependency on batteries. The
various types of protocols and applications are proposed that are efficient in energy. Most of the application scenarios are based on
models that are not realistic due to lack of real world energy measurement tools that results in erroneous energy consumption
predictions. It has been widely observed that the sources used in sensor networks for energy becomes exhausted before the execution
of actual task. The measurement protocols could be valuable for various researchers that are focusing on energy efficiency in
WSNs, and the provided measurements can also be used as a simulated energy model. This paper presents the platform for
experiments that is adesign of GUI based Energy Data Management Software Platform (EDMSP) using various functions. This
Energy Data Management Software Platform is prominently means for energy saving and measurement.
2. EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS
Here EDMSP is implemented in Visual Studio 2010 using Arduino device. Various parameters are used like Comport, Baud
Rate, Parity Bit, Data Bit and Stop Bit. EDMSP supports multi-type display functions like displaying the voltage value, Hex
Number, Decimal Number in the data display window.
Here Comport10 is used for receiving the data with Baud rate 9600, data bit 8 and stop bit One. As soon as the values are
selected from parameters the received data value is recorded in the configurable data window. When the displayed radio
buttons are selected, the particular value is displayed accordingly. In Fig 2.1Firstly there is connection to the Arduino
device. Fig 2.2 displays the voltage value after pressing v and the voltage is displayed in the display window. Fig 2.3
shows the conversion of Voltage Value to Hexadecimal Value by clicking to Hex value radio button. Fig 2.4 shows the
conversion of Hexadecimal Value to Decimal Value by clicking to Decimal value radio button. Fig 2.5 displays the
disconnection from Arduino Device.
3. CONCLUSION
After successful conversion of the voltage value to Hex value and then to Decimal value it has been concluded that other
specific functions can also be easily extended to EDMSP according to the requirement of user. These values can be used for
further data processing and evaluation. Through EDMSP GUI various parameters that are configurable can be set for
evaluation purpose.
