    ASSIGNMENT 2

    1. Compute the standard error of mean and construct the sampling distribution of
    mean for a simple random sample of two families drawn from a population of 5
    families given below

    Family A B C D E

    Family Size 4 3 2 5 7
    2. If T1 and T2 be two statistics such that

    E( T1) = 2 1 + 3 2

    and

    E( T2) = 1 + 2

    Find unbiased estimators for 1 and 2


    3. A sample of 900 units has mean of 3.4 and standard deviation 2.61. Can the
    sample be regarded as drawn from a population with mean 3.25 ? Give the 95%
    confidence limits for mean.
