Production crew and roles

For our production we have been put into a group of 3, where he have
each been given a role to carry out as part of the production task. There
are 4 main roles that we have all been allocated to, which are as follows:
Director Abubakar Akbari
Cinematographer Priyais Ariyaratnam
Editor Hamidah Duffus
Sound Everyone

Each role is as important as another because they all play a part in the
final production. The main tasks that each role has is as follows:

Director: The role of the director is to direct the making of the film, which
means that they are in charge of guiding the crew and actors to achieve
the dramatic aspects they hope to achieve through the film. They also
choose the cast, story and control the films artistic aspects. As the director
they have to be the driving creative force of any film production and this
means they have to bring the film to life through visualising the style and
structure of the film. Therefore, the duties are script editing, casting, shot
composition and working closely with the editor. As our director is
Abubakar Akbari he is required to complete all these tasks in order to fulfill
his roles and responsibilities.

Cinematographer: The role of the cinematographer is to assist the director

of the film by creating the visual looks of the film and telling the story
through the technical way that the cinematographer chooses to. They do
this by choosing what lighting they use, shot selection they use, camera
operation and other elements that they consider when filming. A
cinematographers work includes working with the director before, during
and after the production. I am the cinematographer in our group and I am
responsible for all the visuals of our film production.

Editor: The role of the editor is to assemble all the recorded footage into a
finished product that will be soon published. The elements that the editor
will work with are camera footage, dialogue, SFX, special effects and
graphics. This role will come into place when all the recording is finished
and this means that the editor will work very closely with the director to
get a idea of when the film will be done and how the director would like
the story to be told in each scene. Hamidah Duffus is the editor of our
group and she is required to assemble all the footage and put it the order
the director would like it to be told in.

Sound: The person that is in charge of sound is required to assemble and

operate all the technical aspects, which is the sound that will be used in
our production. They have to record all the sounds during the production
and this would be on set and then during post-production they are
required to balance and editing the pre-recorded audio to fit in with the
visual aspects. They must make sure that all the sound that is recorded is
to excellent standard and they tend to work closely with the editor, as
they are required to plug in where the sounds are supposed to be for each
scene. Everyone is in charge of the sound in our production; therefore we
are required to make sure all the sound is good and that it fits well with
the editing as a group.
