Course Description: A study of the concepts and general principles of succession, kinds of
succession (testamentary, legal or intestate, and mixed succession), kinds of heirs, legitime and
collation, principles affecting the legitime (preterition, reserva troncal, reserva adoptiva,
disinheritance) and the freely disposable portion (institution and substitution of heirs),
principles common to testamentary and legal succession, as well as partition and distribution
of the estate of the decedent.

]Teaching Methods/Strategies

Class recitations will basically be employed to determine whether the student read and
understood the provisions of the law and the decisions of the Supreme Court. Quizzes,
announced or unannounced, will also be administered to check the comprehension and
analysis of the students. Lectures and visual aids may be used when applicable.

Grading:

Class Standing (Recitation, Quizzes, Digest) 30%
