Focus Opposition Notes

Communication
Animal Handling NA Particularly stubborn animals can make an opposed Willpower (Courage)
check to resist training or herding.

Bargaining Communication (Bargaining) Where this intersects with negotiating for abstracts such as peace
agreements, land rights, border placement etc. Communication (Persuasion)
is viable as well on either end of the opposed check.

Deception Communication (Deception), Both the able lier and the consummate judge of character can see through
Perception (Empathy) deceptions.

Disguise Perception (Empathy, Tells in attitude, body language and speech are just as prone to foiling a
Searching, Seeing) disguise as failure in costuming.

Etiquette NA If being tested by others as to your knowledge, use opposed Cunning

(Cultural Lore) rolls.

Gambling Perception (Seeing)

Investigation NA Communication (Deception) can play a role in sowing false information.

Performance NA Cunning (Cultural Lore, Musical Lore) or Communication (Performance) can

play a role in skilled observers being pleased with the results of a
Communication (Performance) check.

Persuasion Communication (Deception,

Persuasion)

Seduction Communication (Seduction) or One can resist temptation or out-tempt the one desiring control.

Engineering NA Cunning (Engineering) and Cunning (Evaluation) can determine the beauty
of any constructed vehicle, building or edifice.

Evaluation NA Attempted fabrication requires Dexterity or other crafting efforts.

Heraldry NA Cunning (Heraldry) to test an opponent.

Navigation NA Cunning (Navigation) can determine a faster route, which can affect a race.

Religious Lore NA Cunning (Religious Lore) to test an opponent.

Writing NA The appropriate Cunning focus on the subject matter can affect the response
of the reader.

Dexterity
Calligraphy NA Dexterity (Calligraphy) if in a contest.

Initiative Dexterity (Initiative)

Legerdemain Perception (Searching, Seeing)

Lock Picking NA Dexterity (Lock Picking) and Cunning (Engineering) can both contribute to
the difficulty of a particular lock.

Riding NA Stubborn mounts would resist with Willpower (Courage) tests.

Stealth Perception (Hearing, Seeing,

Smelling, Tracking)

Traps NA Can also be used to create snares, deadfalls and other simple traps. Cunning
(Engineering) is required for anything complex.

Perception
Tracking NA Cunning (Natural Lore) may be used to increase the difficulty of trackers by
backtracking, temporarily removing or masking their scent, and choosing
paths that leave little evidence.

Strength
Climbing Strength (Climbing) This only applies to races.

Driving Strength (Driving) This only applies to races.

Intimidation NA Communication (Persuasion) can defuse the threat of implied violence and
Willpower (Courage) can overcome it.

Jumping Strength (Jumping) This only applies to contests of further distance.

Might Strength (Might) Tests of Strength such as arm wrestling are rarely serious, but this is the
opposed check to handle them.

Smithing NA Both Strength (Smithing) and Cunning (Evaluation) can determine the value
of work created using this focus.

Focuses that are not present are not used to initiate opposed checks per se and have no auxiliary notes I can suggest for adjudication.
That does not mean those focuses are not or cannot be used to oppose another action. However, this chart was written from the point
of view of the active party as much as possible.
