COM Failure on a STAR
Proceed via STAR to GIPOL/AMIKI/RILAX. At last received or acknowledged EAT or, if no EAT has been
received or acknowledged at FPL ETA, descend in the GIPOL/AMIKI/RILAX HLDG to the initial APCH ALT
(or 7000ft whichever is higher; for RILAX). Carry out a standard instrument APCH to a suitable RWY.
COM Failure on a RNAV Transition
Before reception of a "transition CLR": Continue FLT in accordance with COM failure PROC for
relevant STAR.
After reception of a "transition CLR": Continue FLT in accordance with lateral description and with
respect to the MCA of the PROC with subsequent final APCH of a conventional INSTR APCH.
After reception of a CLR direct to a WPT on a transition: Continue FLT direct to the cleared WPT,
rejoin transition in accordance with lateral description and with respect to the MCA of the PROC with
subsequent final APCH of a conventional INSTR APCH.
When being radar vectored to a WPT on a transition: Resume own navigation to rejoin in the most
direct way and proceed in accordance with lateral description and in respect to the MCA of the PROC
with subsequent final APCH of a conventional INSTR APCH.
Arrival Procedure
Altitude Restrictions
Additional Special Regulation due to German Ordinance
Lowest FL to be used in German airspace for ARR to LSZH is FL120 during German curfew period. There-
fore all inbound flights to LSZH at cruising FL110 or below expect to climb to FL120 according to ATC
instruction at IAF AMIKI, GIPOL or RILAX. Exemptions are only AVBL for performance reason and/or WX
COND.
As APCHs to both RWY 14 and 16 require the use of German airspace below FL120 these RWYs are not
AVBL during the German curfew period. Therefore LDG RWY will be either RWY 28 or RWY 34. Normally
RWY 34 is used in the morning period and RWY 28 in the evening period.
ACFT not able to land on RWY 28 due to performance limitations will be vectored to the ILS RWY 34.
Flights to RWY 28 will have priority.
iStream Procedure
ACFT inbound RWY 34 with a flight time of 5HR or more with an ETA BTN 0500-0600, shall be
sequenced before entering Swiss ASP. Sequencing for other flights is recommended when arriving
during this time frame.
Sequencing is based on the Arrival Slot (STA) and provides a strategic planning timeframe for each flight.
The FPL shall take into account this Strategic Landing Time.
Latest at 0100, a target time over LSZH APCH FIX (GIPOL, AMIKI, RILAX, DOPIL, or KELIP) for each flight
will be forwarded to the air crews in order to adapt their speed. ATS PROC remain unchanged.
FMS RNAV Transitions

For FMS RNAV transitions leading to all instrument APCHs refer to best AVBL APCH PROC (IAC) leading
to the respective RWY.

ILS/GLS APCH
Arrange descent so as to maintain ENR configuration as long as possible considering safety and ATC
requirements. Speed reduction and extension of LDG gear/high lift devices are to be planned in such way,
that LDG configuration is established and correct APCH speed is reached shortly prior to or at 4 miles
final.
Visual APCH
Circuit shall be flown at 3000ft or higher whenever VIS/cloud base permits. Overflying of densely popu-
lated areas is to be avoided as far as possible.
Diversion PROC from LSZH to LFSB
For alternate fuel planning purposes to LFSB due to specific weather conditions (VIS below 5km and/or
ceiling below 2000ft) in LSZH, consider MISAP for RWY 34 (LSZH) to GIPOL, thereafter direct to HOC,
followed by approximately 25NM of radar vectored DIST to final APCH RWY 15 in LFSB. The DIST result-
ing from radar vectors in LFSB shall be regarded as an estimate, depending on traffic and airspace re-
strictions around LFSB (if RWY 33 in use in LFSB, the vectored DIST could increase to 40NM).
This results in the following calculation (using shortest DIST):
MISAP LSZH RWY 34 28NM
GIPOL to HOC 16NM
HOC via radar vectors to final APCH LFSB RWY 15 25NM
Final APCH to RWY 15 6NM
This results in a total DIST of 75NM.
If another than RWY 34 is in use in LSZH, appropriate recalculation shall be performed.
Hold Short Operation RWY 28
Under certain circumstances ATC can allow VFR APCHs to RWY 28 with simultaneous APCH's and DEP's
on RWY 16/34.
RWY 28: RWY 28 is categorized as non-instrument RWY due to non-compliance with ICAO Annex 14
standards for instrument RWYs. The non-compliance concerns physical characteristics of the AD infra-
structure (e.g. RWY strip width, DIST from TWY A and B to RWY CL, location of RWY holding PSNs) and
OBST clearance after passing the APCH minima. To accommodate instrument APCHs, raised minima
have been published. ILS signal fulfills CAT I requirements.
Reverse: Do not use more than idle reverse if possible.
Minimum RWY Occupancy Time (MROT)
Ensure standard MROT procedures.
In addition: Vacate RWY 14 via TWY H1 whenever possible (except wake turbulence category HEAVY)
or as instructed by ATC.
Non-standard GP interception position on
RWY 14
GP intercepts RWY 14 at 308m / 1011ft after landing threshold.
Remaining LDG DIST beyond GP is 2842m / 9324ft.
RWY 16
GP intercepts RWY 16 at 314m / 1030ft after landing threshold.
Remaining LDG DIST beyond GP is 3386m / 11109ft.
Warnings
Do not mistake RWY 14 for RWY 16 and vice versa.

Automatic measuring equipment is used to monitor adherence.
ATC Slot, Clearance
Keep listening watch on DLV 20min prior to beginning of the slot.
Start-up
Contact DLV earliest 15min prior to EOBT/ETD.
If unable to accept RWY according DEP ATIS INFO, report this to DLV earliest 30min and latest 10min
prior EOBT.
When requesting ATC clearance, report ACFT type, stand number and DEP ATIS identification letter.
ACFT with ATC Slot for remote de-icing must be ready for start-up latest 15min prior CTOT.
ACFT with ATC Slot for RWY 10 or if crew requires RWY 16 must be ready for start-up latest 15min prior
CTOT.
ACFT with ATC Slot for RWY 28, 34, 32 must be ready for start-up latest 10min prior CTOT.
STBY with APN. APN will contact ACFT at calculated start-up time for start-up, push-back or tow.
In case cross bleed / cross generator start-up necessary, flight crew shall inform APN. APN Control will
issue start-up clearance.

Winter OPS from 15 OCT - 30 APR. If de-icing of ACFT is heavily delayed due to high demand and pro-
longed process time, due to impact on operations with runway-closures for snow cleaning, resulting in
increasing number of flights missing their slots, "General De-Icing with extended slot tolerance window"
might be applicable. This information will be broadcasted on DEP ATIS during activation. With handover
to APN , ATC Slot adherence will be assured by ATC.
De-icing - Status
The De-icing status at Zurich airport can be one of the three following:
- De-icing O/R.
- General De-icing
- General De-icing with extended slot tolerance window.
DEP ATIS broadcasts the de-icing status if "General De-Icing or General De-Icing with extended slot
tolerance window" is in use.
De-icing - Procedures
If de-icing required call "De-icing Coordination" on FREQ 121.810 latest 15min before ETD, prior
requesting CLR. This call has to be made irrespective of de-icing status. Crew will be informed about
the de-icing PROC foreseen (on-stand or remote de-icing).
ACFT De-iced on Stand
Report "ACFT ready" when de-icing is completed.
ACFT Foreseen for Remote De-icing
Taxi to assigned remote de-icing pad following instructions given by APN.
When reaching the de-icing PSN within the pad, contact pad coordinator when instructed:
