Hotfix Guide for

IBM Data Studio (DS) and


Optim Query Workload Tuner (OQWT)

1. How to Install the Hotfix


As a prerequisite, you already have:
1. Verified that IBM Installation Manager 1.7.0 or higher is installed
2. Verified that IBM Data Studio client 4.1.2 is installed and close the program;
3. Downloaded DS412_APAR_xxxxPatch.zip for DS or OQWT412_APAR_xxxxPatch.zip for
OQWT to a directory. For example: C:\Hotfix\ DS412_APAR1_v20151117_1324Patch.zip

Steps to install the hotfix using IBM Installation Manager:


1. Start IBM Installation Manager;
2. Click File->Preferences
3. Click Add Repository button, and click the Browse in the popup dialog

4. Select the patch file, e.g. C:\Hotfix\ DS412_APAR1_v20151117_1324Patch.zip, and click


Open button
5. After the repository is added successfully, click the OK button

6. Click the Update icon in the main panel


7. Select your IBM Data Studio client 4.1.2 installation to apply the patch
8. Click Next button to continue
9. Click Update button
10. Verify the Hotfix installation result and click Finish button
# please note:
If you have ever started IBM Data Studio client 4.1.2 before installing the patch, you can
start IBM Data Studio client 4.1.2 directly after the patch installation.

If you have never started IBM Data Studio client 4.1.2 before installing the patch, you
should right click on the IBM Data Studio client 4.1.2 icon in the start menu, and click the
Properties item.

In the IBM Data Studio 4.1.2 Client Properties dialog, add "-clean" to the tail of Target
text box, click OK and then start IBM Data Studio client 4.1.2.
2. How to verify Data Studio Hotfix installation
1. Open IBM Installation Manager
2. Click File->View Installed Packages
3. Find the IBM Data Studio client 4.1.2 installation and check whether there is a hotfix

item with icon below it. Click on the item and verify the Repository is correct.
3. How to uninstall a hotfix
1. Open IBM Installation Manager
2. Click Uninstall icon in the main panel

3. Select the hotfix below the IBM Data Studio client 4.1.2 installation and click Next
button to finish the uninstallation.
4. Collect Information for Troubleshooting
1. Collect IBM Installation Manager logs
(1)Start Installation Manager;
(2)Click Menu Help->Export Data for Problem Analysis;
(3)Specify the path of the zip file and click OK button. After the zip file is generated, send
it to IBM support.

2. Collect IBM Data Studio Configuration data


(1)Start IBM Data Studio 4.1.2;
(2)Click Menu Help->About IBM Data Studio;
(3)Click Installation Details button in the dialog;

(4)Click Configuration tab and then click Copy to Clipboard button;


(5)Save the content in Clipboard to a Text file using Notepad or other text editors, and
send it to IBM support.
