Project 4: Personal Logo

Suggested Theme: Identity

In this project, you will apply your knowledge of what makes a

successful logo and positive/negative space to create a personal logo
or logo for a mock company. You will display your design on a
Featured Products Chart and print it using printmaking techniques.
The logo design should specifically showcase:
Strong Design
Simple, Memorable, Appropriate, Easy to Read
Relationship Between Positive and Negative Space
High Craftsmanship

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Brainstorm 20 Different Logos
Divide a 12x15 paper into 3x3 squares. To do so, make a dot at every 3rd inch around the border of the
paper. Then, connect the dots. Create 20 different logos in all boxes. Be sure to use the whole space in each
box. Begin by sketching your ideas. Then, use sharpie (thin and thick) to create your black and white logos.

Step 2: As the Graphic Designer Present Your Logos to a Client

Present your logo to a client. Determine what is working and what is not. Discuss possibilities of a final logo
design.

Step 3: Choose Your Design

Choose the final design that you wish to feature on product items (shirt, business card, aprons, shoe, etc.) and
that you wish to print with ink using printmaking techniques. Notes, the printed logo and logo on the featured
chart may be different.

Step 4: Featured Products Chart

Design your chart to showcase your final design and 1-2 product items that feature your logo. Be sure to
organize your chart with high craftsmanship in mind. Create using crisp sharpie lines and well saturated
colored pencil.

Step 5: Printmaking
Use printmaking techniques to print your logo at least 2 times on paper. Place print on paper and label
appropriately. Optional: Print your logo on another item such as, a tote, shoes, paper bag, shirt, etc.

Step 6:Turn-In Your Project

Turn-in your project on the appropriate due date by submitting the link to your digital portfolio in the proper unit
folder on Schoology. You should have included a clear picture and artist statement in your slides.
