1. Antimicrobial and Physicochemical Characterizations of Thiosemicarbazide and S-Triazole Derivatives
By Kusmierz, Edyta; Siwek, Agata; Kosikowska, Urszula; Malm, Anna; Plech, Tomasz; Wrobel, Andrzej; Wujec, Monika From Phosphorus, Sulfur and Silicon and the Related Elements (2014), 189(10), 1539-1545. Language: English, Database: CAPLUS, DOI:10.1080/10426507.2014.902831 Two series of thiosemicarbazide derivs. and three series of s-triazole derivs. have been synthesized. All of these compds. were tested for their in vitro antibacterial activity against Gram-pos. and Gram-neg. bacterial strains. Among tested thiosemicarbazide derivs., the best bioactivity was detected for two 1-formylthiosemicarbazides with 3-/4-tolyl substitution (MICs range between 31.25 and 250 g/mL). All tested s-triazole derivs. exhibited lower antibacterial activity than their acyclic precursors. ~1 Citing Copyright 2016 American Chemical Society (ACS). All Rights Reserved.
2. Antibacterial characterization of 1-benzoyl-4-arylthiosemicarbazides and the study of their structure-activity
relationship By Kusmierz, Edyta; Siwek, Agata; Kosikowska, Urszula; Malm, Anna; Wujec, Monika From Letters in Drug Design & Discovery (2012), 9(9), 828-832. Language: English, Database: CAPLUS, DOI:10.2174/157018012803307914 Series of 1-benzoyl-4-arylthiosemicarbazides were efficiently synthesized and evaluated for their antibacterial activities. The results indicated that most of the compds. possessed activity against the Gram-pos. bacterial species. Some structural and electronic parameters have been detd. to explore the correlation between the biol. activity and structure. The mol. study suggests that inhibitory action of studied thiosemicarbazides towards Gram-pos. bacterial species is connected with electronic parameters rather than the geometry of the mol. ~2 Citings
