surgeons and speech therapists. Placed on the Temporary Disability Retirement List in 2002. Immediate family killed in a vehicular accident later that same year.
Spent the ensuing period in Japan studying Arashikage-ryū bujutsū with Thomas Arashikage's clan. Returned to active duty (with assignment limitations owing to his
vocal impairment) in 2007. Sent to Afghanistan in 2008, engaging Taliban fighters in the country's northeast alongside ISAF special operations forces. Fluent in

communications projects contracted by the Department of Defense. Son killed during the Battle of Nasiriyah in Iraq in 2003 while serving as a soldier in the Army's

the events in 1979 that came to be known as the Three Mile Island accident. Against such a backdrop, the precocious Schnurr had what could only be called a
peculiar childhood. Instead of monsters under the bed and closet-dwelling ogres, the young Kurt's bedtime bogeymen were the twin specters of reactor meltdown
and nuclear fallout. Enlisted in the Army in 2002 after graduating with a degree in public health from SCSU. Assigned to the 22 nd Chemical Battalion (Technical
Escort) after completing CBRN specialist AIT. In late 2003, attached to the US-backed multinational Iraq Survey Group (ISG), conducted fact-finding and NBC
reconnaissance operations throughout Iraq in search of functional Iraqi WMDs (weapons of mass destruction). Returned to his parent unit in 2005 after the ISG
concluded in its final report that “[there was no] evidence that Saddam [Hussein] possessed WMD stocks in 2003”. Joined the elite 801st Chemical
Reconnaissance Detachment in 2007. Frequently jokes that he joined the Chemical Corps largely in the interest of self-preservation, citing that Chemical Corps
soldiers have the most ready access of any person in the United States to HAZMAT suits in the event of a catastrophic CBRN incident. Analysis of incidental
records of his personal interactions with GIJOE teammates seem to indicate that his choice in military career was at least partially motivated by childhood anxieties
that have been sublimated into a healthy respect for the attendant risks that come with living in a post-Atomic Age world.

athletics, was captain of the men's swimming team his senior year. Assigned to USCG Activities Europe after graduating from the Academy in 1999. Deployed to
Kuwait in 2004, participated in port security and maritime interdiction operations in the northern Persian Gulf in support of American military operations in Iraq through
early 2006. Returned to the United States in 2007, briefly served as coach for the USCG Academy women's swimming team before joining the USCG Deployable
