Not traveling to another place in the world may seem like you have only read one page. But
when it comes to learning in a different place, beyond borders and boundaries, it doesnt just
mean reading history books, travelling across tourist destinations or knowing a friend whos been
there. Its about spending your time in absorbing their cultures, traditions, and types of character,
knowledge and values that identify the people who belong to that place. That is why I do not
only find the foreign exchange program interesting to get to the other side of the world, or
exciting to add another check in the bucket list. Its all about finding yourself within the place,
while knowing a sense of how the lessons you learn there can apply to your home.
Some people think studying abroad is a privilege due to getting to new places and meeting new
people. But it should be perceived that these programs delve into the beneficial trend of
globalization and exchange for common values and treasures that will not just benefit you and
your credentials, but also on a macro-scale in the long run. This blend of ideas and academic
experiences excels individuals to be an exponent for development in society, contributing what is
best for people.
It is true that every journey, no matter how far begins with a single step. But the journey isnt
about steps. Its about the moment of being there, and what made you while you have traveled on
your journey. This construction and learning of thoughts can improve your perception and skills,
ultimately cementing your individual competitiveness in a global setting.
I think that the foreign exchange program will empower me to engage myself with different
cultures, their application of academic thought and its implications toward my character both in a
short-term and long-term. It would be very beneficial for me to be chosen as one of the lucky
members for this program.
B.
Over the past years, my experience as an instructor in tertiary institutions, particularly in the De
La Salle College of Saint Benilde and Lyceum of the Philippines University Manila made me
committed to improve my skills of teaching and improving the methods of learning of students
For me, teaching goes beyond PowerPoint presentations, giving out hand-outs or basic concepts
in subjects. It is about addressing the interest of students to the topic that I am about to teach
them and intensifying their capability to understand and comprehend these ideas and lessons.
In terms of my career, compacted with the commitment to provide a different method and angle
of teaching in improving the learning capabilities of my students, it would be beneficial that I
would be chosen for the said program in order for me to look into new methods and ways of how
educational institutions abroad have been able to innovate in terms of practice in teaching.

C.
One of the first things that I would do when I arrive in the Philippines is that I would add new
levels of teaching and improve the curriculum that is based in each class that I teach. I would
suggest new ideas to the college department heads on what are the new ideas and ways where
professors and instructors would be able to improve and modernize in terms of teaching based on
what academic institutions abroad have been able to apply.
The consistent application of the ideas that I have learned from learning abroad would be
immediately put up into my skills and styles of teaching, as well as informing students and
faculty on the experiences and impact of cultures that it will have on me as I have undertaken the
program.
Moreover, I would like to contribute in community extension programs in rural areas, especially
in places where indigenous people live in order for them to learn more about the outside world
and used advanced modernization and technology to their advantage and thus developing and
solving the problems that these people face, whether in health, agriculture, education or
infrastructure and damage-mitigation.
