INTRODUCTION
As a piano teacher I am always looking for new pieces that are fun and exciting yet serve
a pedagogical purpose. As a composer I am always creating new works and enjoy writing
tudes for my students. When I saw how enthusiastically many students responded to my
first few tudes I decided to create these complete volumes to supplement traditional
teaching methods and repertoire.
The Piano Lessons series contains piano works that address specific musical and technical
challenges. They introduce important concepts in fresh ways that incorporate a wide
range of musical styles. Each piece has brief introductory comments that describe some
of the concepts and/or skills required or areas to focus on. New musical vocabulary
words are italicized. This provides an opportunity for a teacher to discuss these ideas and
techniques.
Ive heard from many students and teachers who have found this music rewarding and
exciting to play and perform. I wish you great enjoyment as you begin Piano Lessons.
