Skill Requirements

Education: Diploma in Early Childhood Education or equivalency.

Credentials (certificates, licenses, memberships, courses, etc.): Early Childhood Education Diploma
or Degree, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate, First Aid Certificate Level C

Experience: Daycare: 1 year

Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English

Work Setting: Child Care Centre, Day-Care Centre

Children's Ages: Toddlers and preschoolers

Early Childhood Education Skills: Plan and develop age appropriate activities, provide supervision and
guidance of daily activities, routines, field trips and special activities, Provide opportunity for creative
expression through the mediums of art, dramatic play and music. Meets the developmental level of
children. Prepare progress reports. Must have knowledge of Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA), and of
the licensing regulations. Must be familiar with the How does Learning Happen Document, and the
ELECT document.

Additional Skills: Supervise trainees or volunteers, Assist in maintaining records of children, organize
day care supplies and equipment, light cleaning duties, leadership and interpersonal skills.

Security and Safety: Vulnerable Sector Check updated yearly, and updated immunization records.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities : You must be able to multitask, pay attention to detail,
work while sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, and lifting.

Work Site Environment: Outdoors, indoors, noisy, non-smoking (designated smoking areas), air
conditioned (in the summer), and heating (in the winter).

Transportation/Travel Information: You must have a reliable car or have access to bus transportation
services
Essential Skills: Reading text, document use, writing, oral communication, work with others, problem
solving, decision making, critical thinking, job task planning and organizing, significant use of memory,
finding information, computer use, and participate in continuous learning sessions.

Other: Must be registered with College of Early Childhood Education (RECE). Only successful applicants
