Report Explanation for Students

The Semester 1 Academic Progress Report is a summary of student learning over the first semester in each of the Learning Areas
studied. The Report will give important academic information on the following aspects of learning as reported by the course teacher.

Achievement Within Course:

This is the final summative grade of all assessments, including examinations (where applicable) completed by the student in this
course over the first semester. This grade is the student's official record of academic achievement from LJBC for this grading period.
All grades are reported against the grade related descriptions for Individual Courses of Study.

Examination Mark:
If this mark appears on the report then it is an important aspect of the learning in the course and the teacher wishes to highlight the
student's performance in their examination.

Course Mark:
If this mark appears on the report it is designed to show the summative result in all of the learning tasks that the student has submitted
during the assessment period, expressed as a percentage. Once again the teacher is highlighting the student's achievement across all
learning in their course by including this mark.

Learning Area Grade:

This table provides the summarive Grade level for the year of the student.

Practical Courses only:

Responsibility for own learning

This aspect is reporting on the way that a student approaches learning in the Learning Area classroom and the quality of the student's
learning as displayed in their bookwork, classroom participation, cooperative learning, homework as well as their focus on learning in
the particular subject.

During this semester students analysed the Ten Commandments and the movie Exodus: Gods and Kings while
summarizing life lessons we can learn from Moses and explored the concept of love and relationships from a Christian
perspective. Megan has achieved an excellent grade and is commended for the mature disposition she demonstrated
as we explored various concepts and ideas in the subject. I encourage her to participate in class discussions.

Megan is a polite and friendly student who displays a positive attitude towards her learning. I was pleased with the way
she approached the Multiple Choice section in her examination but it was evident that she struggled with the Extended
Answer section of the paper. I would encourage Megan to continue to make notes for each topic and apply herself to
going over them regularly. By practicing the correct terminology she will find it easier to give comprehensive answers in
the future which will improve her results.

Megan has applied herself to all aspects of Children, Family and Community in a mature and responsible manner. She
is a diligent student who tries hard in all assessment tasks and asks for assistance when required. To potentially
improve on this grade, Megan will need to show more detail in written work including her examinations.

Megan actively engages in working carefully and conscientiously to improve her English skills and she is to be
commended for her sound attitude to her studies. I encourage her to read and view a wide range of texts in order to
broaden her experience of genres and conventions. Exposure to a variety of text types will assist Megans
comprehension skills and better equip her to deal with unfamiliar texts in the Comprehending Section of the
