Description of how to implement in the class:
As a class we will discuss previous knowledge about the branches of government in the US. We will
use a School House Rock video, displaying the three branches of government, as a brief intro to the
content. We will then use Brain Pop to get more instructional information for the students about the
three branches of government. Brain Pop has educational games, and quizzes that we can use as
formative assessments (using a checklist) on the material.
As a summative assessment I will have the students record their ideas from the material we watch
and discuss in class about the three branches of government. Once we have discussed and reviewed
the different branches the students and I will fill in our graphic organizer web (using Inspiration) on
the SMART Board. I will have a printed version of the graphic organizer from Inspiration that they
can glue into their notebooks.
Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): Technology is being used during the lesson (LoTi 1),
students are using technology for central, content related activities that are monitored and assessed
by the teacher (LoTi 2), Students are asked to think at higher levels applying their new knowledge to
answer critical- thinking questions, they are analyzing their new information, evaluating their graphs,
and creating a graphic organizer (LoTi 3).
Description of the sample BBPT file provided *: Attached is an example of the graphic organizer
that the students will complete as a class or in small groups. The sample shows a picture with the
general topic that we will discuss along with the information that relates to each subsection. The
students will incorporate pictures and have a blank canvas for them to fill in their customized
information in. They could even draw their own interpretations on the printed out version of the
Inspiration graphic organizer.
Other comments about your proposed BBPT Activity: Depending on the students and their
learning levels and preferences, this lesson can be differentiated to fit your students learning styles
and adjusted due to resources accessible to them.
