What will I need?
3 PCs, 1 Switch, Printer, 2 Servers and (Robert and Adam will be on cable and Sara will be
wireless).

Ping screen prints

The ip address always start with 192.168. with a number at the end, which belongs to the PC
or the server or any device what needs a ip address. To ping from the PC 1 to the server and
the PC 1 ip address is 192.168.1.1 and the server ip address is 192.168.1.5. After typing in
the ip addresses for both it will start replying to you straight away which is a quick response.

PC0 ip address
is 192.168.1.2 and it is pinging PC3 and the ip address for PC3 is 192.168.1.3 as you can
see when you type in the ip address it will say it is replying straight away and sometimes it
will say request timed out 3 times and then try it again and it will work.

To test the Nortons
Internet Security is that
Nortons Internet I opened my Nortons
Security scan Internet Security on my
laptop and it came up
with different options. I
then clicked on to do a
full scan which was
scanning everything on
my laptop. There was
only 1 fault on my
Nortons which was the
start-up program which
I have sorted and now it
is sorted my Nortons is
protected.

To test windows
Windows security security system on my
system laptop I went to all the
apps section and typed
in windows security
system in the search
bar. Next once I did that
it came up with a lot of
different options to
choose from and I
clicked on the internet
connection and then it
did a scan and there
are no faults. The
windows firewall was
working correctly and
running.
To do a test on the
printer at home I

my laptop and printed

page which gives you
what it is been testing
and there were no
faults with the printer
and it is working.

In this practical I had to

set up 5 shared folders

Written report

Introduction
In this report, I will be discussing about what I have created and talk about what I used in
Cisco Packet Tracer to create and test the network and talk about the three users Sara,
Adam and Robert and how did I test these software and hardware and also if there were any
faults and any improvements.
Cisco Packet Tracer
I have set out my network first 3 pcs, printer, and a server. I look through the switches and
routers and decided to use a switch I then went to the wires and I am using a straight
through copper wire and connected all my items to the switch. I then went into config on all
my devices to give them a ip address once that was done I checked my network saw all
green lights blinking so I know I have connected them correctly I then did a ping test to each
device and I was getting replies back straight away from my network items after that I had to
do a lot of research to locate commands to work in config and cli which is iso I got a lot of
plans for configuring the switch tried serval and then have failure so then kept researching till

I found one that worked and then I went to the switch to configure took 7 attempts to type in
configuration and cli to open ports on the switch to get my network up and running. Once
after doing that I did a ping test again and run an envelope which is doing a test on all the
devices. As you can see from the print screens there are green envelopes to all the devices.
It has met all the clients requirements because Robert who is the business administrator
has his very own PC and they are all sharing the printer and, they have folders and files.
Adam who is the social media i.e. gaming and Facebook etc
