ABOUT VJTI
Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute was established in
1887. In 1998, the Institute was renamed from its old name
Victoria Jubilee Technical Institute to its present name
Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute. Since the time of
inception, VJTI has been playing a very vital role in producing
quality engineers, introducing new programs, and electives in
emerging areas The Institute is affiliated to University of
Mumbai. The institute was granted financial, administrative
and academic autonomy from June, 2004. As a result, the
autonomous VJTI has implemented the revised syllabus for
the students in June 2004 at the undergraduate and
postgraduate levels by implementing much valued credit
system. The revised scheme of examinations, which follows a
grading system and letter grade point system, has been
implemented. An important part of curriculum is the practically
oriented project at the final year of graduation and the
dissertations offered by the postgraduate students. The
Institute is reputed for excellent training in Engineering and
Technology at Diploma, Degree, Post Graduate levels and
Research. Presently VJTI offers B.Tech programs in nine core
disciplines of Engineering, 16 M.Tech. programs, M.C.A. and
Ph.D. programs in various engineering disciplines. VJTI was
one of the fourteen institutes selected by the Central
Government for further development with grant-in-aid from the
Centre under Technical Education Quality Improvement
Program (TEQIP-I & TEQIP-II).
ABOUT MECHANICAL ENGG. DEPT. Established in 1887,
the Department of Mechanical Engineering remains among
the premier departments of VJTI. It has had a long and
illustrious history and offers courses at the graduate and
postgraduate levels. The department is recognized for
doctoral research by the University of Mumbai. The
department has kept pace with the rapid developments in the
field of computer aided methods, thermal, design and
manufacturing areas. Department has a excellent facilities in
the area of 3D printing, CMM. The laboratories in the
department are recognized in a number of areas as testing
facilitie
ABOUT RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
PROGRAMME
Research in common terminology refers to a search
for knowledge but in fact, research is an art of
scientific investigation. It inculcates the necessity to
develop critical acumen and use of focused
methodology for problem solving. Research
comprises of defining and redefining problems,
formulating hypothesis, suggesting unique solutions;
collecting, organizing, and evaluating data, making
deductions and reaching valid conclusions.
OBJECTIVE OF PROGRAMME
This programme is aimed to make individuals who
are beginning their research starting work to
understand the philosophy of research and how to
use different tools and techniques to define and
solve the problem.
Main objectives of this course are:
To update on different idea generation and
creativity techniques
To acquaint with techniques of data collection
and systematic categorization of data
To familiarize about statistical tool and
techniques
To introduce the participants about the technical
paper writing and the ethics in research

Hypothesis testing, regression analysis, linear
and non-linear models

Ethics in research
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This course is interdisciplinary. Degree and Diploma
faculty members from any branch of AICTE approved
engineering institute can attend this course.
SPEAKERS
Experts from IIT Bombay, SGGS IE&T, Nanded, NITIE,
ICT Mumbai, BARC Mumbai, VJTI Mumbai will deliver
expert sessions.
REGISTRATION
Interested faculty members from AICTE approved
Engineering and Polytechnic Institutes are requested to
send their application in the prescribed format to the
coordinators so as to reach on or before 20th February
2017. Scanned copy by e-mail is preferable to early
expedite the process. Selection of participant is sole
authority of the organizing committee. Maximum 30
participants would be allowed to register in this program.
IMPORTANT DATES
Last date of receipt of duly filled applications: 20th
February 2017. Intimation of selection by e-mail on:
22nd February 2017. Considering chances of postal delay,
it is advised that a scanned copy of duly signed form
countersigned by the Head of the Institute for sponsored
candidates be sent by e-mail to Coordinator
(samastud@vjti.org.in) for early confirmation.
TRAVELLING & BOARDING
This course is under QIP-AICTE scheme and therefore no
Registration Fee for faculty members is nil. Outstation
participants will be paid 2nd Class sleeper train/ economy
bus fare as per QIP & Institute norms. VJTI will provide
accommodation to only 15 participants in three seater
non-A/C guest room in campus or nearby areas as per
availability of rooms on first come first served basis.
